Hey everyone,

Looking for some input on whether I should upgrade to the EVR clutch for my M696. Usually I would put this much money into a bike, but I intend to keep this M696 for good. I'm coming up on my 15k valve adjustment and the clutch needs to be replaced. Not sure yet if the basket needs to be replace with it, but I was thinking about upgrading to an EVR slipper clutch.

Some consideration:

- I have a Ducabike clear cover I'm going to install. The EVR would look cleaner, but I could also just get a colored pressure plate to match my bike.
- The OME basket cost around 425 and the EVR is around 800.

I just wondering if a slipper clutch is a waste on a M696 that is not being raced.

Ok bit confused. The 848 wet cltuch is not the same as the 696 clutch. Not sure how he has that listed as 696/848/st3.. I had the conversation with evr in italy about this. He said they were looking at it. Also the 899 clear clutch cover wont fit the 696, youll need an 848 clear clutch side cover.

In fact evr site doesnt list 697/796 as compatible on those wet clutches. Talk to randy and confirm but pretty sure I'm right on this.

I just got off the phone and I already forgot his name, but I think it was lyle:) I had him look up my order to make sure it would fit the 696 and he said I was good to go. I got my value adjustment coming up soon so I'll let you know. I'll get in touch with EVR as well, but if you hear back before me let me know. I'm making a big purchase, so I don't want to get the wrong stuff.

I'm still on the fence about the slipper clutch. I guess I should get it, but I'm going with gold higlights so I don't know if the grey slipper would work or the gold ducabike pressure plate.

Your APTC clutch is a kind of slipper, so a complete slipper might not be worth it...

With the clear cover, a painted or polished stock pressure plate could be enough bling.

It would surprise me a lot if you need a new basket at this point.

As Raux said - 696 isn't the same as 848. The diameter of the 848 is smaller than 696 (3% chance I remember incorrectly and it's the other way around). So, to use an 848 slipper you'll need an 848 basket, a set of plates and to make sure that you have a matching/mated set of drive & driven primary gears gear - assuming it fits, which I have no idea about.

Thanks stopintime. I was leaning toward just replacing the clutch with OEM or Barnett plates and getting the ducabike pressure plate. I just didn't know if the slipper clutch would be a good option for the extra cost.

I don't take the bike to the track and never had the rear wheel slip during down shifting, but if I was going to switch out the clutch for the EVR not would be the time.

I was told that I may need to replace the basket with the plates, but I was asking for high/low estimate over the phone, so I think the service guy was just covering his bases. I'm 90% sure I'm not getting the EVR. Like you said the OEM is a like a slipper clutch. Plus I think the gold pressure plate will tie the bike together nicely Smiley
