I have realized that, thats why I am thinking of getting the S2R, maybe work on it and use it for track or shorter faster rides, and keep the 796 for everyday street riding.

Torque is awesome.  My 900SS had plenty and was a sheer hoot to ride.  The S2R will be even MORE fun.  The "off the line" feel of the S2R will be pretty impressive compared to the 796 IMO.

Wait until he fits a 14T to his 796.  Cool No S2R 1000..., but MUCH better.

Not much, AFAIK, except symetery and losing that ugly box.  Grin You can pick up the Euro shroud for that side. http://motowheels.com/i-6921561-ducati-air-deflector-left-side-m696-796-1100.html

If you intend to keep the bike a while, it might be a good idea to pick up that Euro left side shroud while it's still available over here. Since there are no more new 696, 796, 1100's, they might not bother to reorder.

When you get around to removing the evaps or have the dealer do it, use a screw rather than a vacuum cap on the crankcase connection.  Wink Vacuum caps can leak over time...
