Actually the service intervals for major service (valve clearance checks $$) is 18,000 Miles!! Compared to my Monster and Sport 1K the service is actually cheaper.

The local dealer told me that the valve service on the Diavel was at 15k and costs around $1200.

Testatretta 11° is 24 000kms or 15 000mls . . . Belts every 15 000mls or 60 months . . .
You will have so much fun on it that you will not consider said costs . . .
GO FOR IT !!!

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Just test rode a Diavel yesterday. I was at the Ducati shop in Portland, MotoCorsa, looking for a part for my Monster, and while I was just looking around they asked me if I wanted to take a test ride on one.
Impressions: nice handling bike, needs a firm input on the bars in corners, but handles really well; acceleration will make you grin
; I was surprised at how well mannered it was in Urban mode in slow in town traffic, was even easier to ride in traffic than my Monster; lots of heat on my right foot, it was about 75 when I rode it, and the heat when slow or stopped was very noticeable; the size of the bike disappears when you get it going.

The more important question is:
Why shouldn't you?
