Gday there,Monster Crew.... I'm currently at the end of a 94 M600 rebuild and really want to tidy up the rear end of my bike. And get rid of that beer tray..Ive seen a quite a few photo,s of monsters that have been chopped and i reckon they look wicked.
I want to do the tail chop, but can't find a decent schematic for a number plate bracket  any where? I know there are some out there on the market but would much rather make one for myself and save the coin for something better on my monster.
If any one can help me i would be, so stoked & really appreciate it.
Thanks Guys

the earlier monster have a shorter subframe..
I got away without doing the 'tail chop' and I reckon it looks ok.

Of course, you will need the appropriate bits to replace the number plate holder etc..

Make sure when you cut the frame, you do it square with the frame tubes and not the tail light mounting bracket. The prev owner of my bike did it that way and it looked horrible. You could tell he used a sawzall and used that plate as a guide. I had a buddy worked for the city and he used to pilfer old street signs that were beat up from car wrecks or whatever. I used the aluminum from one of them and it was the perfect thickness. I attached it from underneath using the seat latch bolts.

use a simple tube cutter rather than any type of saw for a much cleaner cut.

Not if you want it tight. I got rid of the seat latch lock bracket too.

Angle grinder and a cutoff wheel worked best for me. Used piece of 1" tubing cut with a tubing cutter (for squareness) as a sharpie guide.

Thanks Fella,s ...Before i go ahead with this tail chop , I've got to find out weather I'm going to get hassled by the cops in NSW..A bloke from the forum told me that in VIC if you do the tail chop its a stat write off if you do the chop the  on frame .Stupid cause its got bugger all to do with the frames structural integrity.
Does anyone know the rules in NSW for this type of mod ? Ive tried to do some research on it but its a really Grey area ,can't work it out ??

If you look at the picture I put up, if you use the next size smaller tubing, it can be welded to the piece cut off. Cross drill the frame to accept little hitch pins to pin the chopped piece through the tubing. Problem solved. Anywhere you go there is a police presence, pin the tail on the duc or leave it off on the backroads.

I went this way too. A carbon beer tray dressed things up instead of the el cheapo plastic oem crap. I used dirt bike number plate parts and a stick on LED plate light for tidiness that is hidden by the lip of the beer tray. The beer tray does actually hold a beer too. Cheesy I tucked in my lights similar to Monsta, but I have oem indicators keeping me good with the local Police. Grin Looks very oem in style, keeping the classic theme, but tidied up like it should have come from the factory.
