Seems to me the first Ducati double since Carlos Checa in 2012 - and the first on the Panigale - deserves a thread of its own.

Well done, Chaz!

I wonder how Giuliano is feeling today?

He had a fairly spectacular highside in race 2 and went cartwheeling through the gravel in turn 6...est no bueno.

Sounds like his first thought - probably before he & the bike had even stopped bouncing - was along the lines of "Crap, I've hurt my back again." Glad to hear that everything checked out OK.

It's got to be extremely frustrating for him, the way this season has played out - with the bike coming together, but a serious injury leaving him unable to really capitalize on it.

Has the 1199R improved or did it just need someone that could ride it?

I think the 1199 has been improving.

Also, Chaz raced in the US for a while, so he is familiar with and likes Laguna.

I haven't watched race 2 yet, but the battle for second in race 1 was awesome!  bow down

I can see how Laguna is good for the 1199 since there are no real straights. It's just really difficult to believe that it leap frogged the Ape and Beemer in just one season. I understand the circumstances of both factories losing interest, but I would have though it more likely that they would gradually improve. The Duc has been second best to the Kawi since PI.
