Great read.
I hear it so much when someone sees me in my gear and want to strike up a conversation. If they don't ride the conversation usually gets to "Motorcycles are so dangerous...."
I usually reply...
"Motorcycles aren't dangerous...
Riding beyonds one's ability is dangerous.
Being complacent in one's ability and not seeking ways to improve riding skills is dangerous.
Not keeping a motorcycle properly maintained and roadworthy is dangerous.
Assuming any vehicle on the roads can see a motorcyclist is dangerous."
The list goes on.

When they hit you with the 'Bikes are dangerous' line just reply, 'Yep, they're certainly not for the faint hearted' and walk on.

Aside from the review of the RunT (which I really have no interest in) this story does an admirable job of conveying the meaning of why I ride. Personally, I think he picked the wrong bike for the job though. He should have picked a Multistrada.
Here's me with my bike yesterday.

That guy is a good writer. If that short article is any indication of the rest of his work, he's as good as anyone out there. We need to sign him up here.

Thanks for this. Good Read... and particularly poignant for me.
I have been somewhat absent for last 6 months or so recovering from an accident in which I was hit by a car, won't go into gory details, but my bike was totalled...
I am mostly recovered and the itch is getting strong... starting to look around for my next bike
My wife, a few friends, relatives, & acquaintances think/know i am slightly nuts
I kind of shrug & say maybe I am, and i know it's selfish, but the idea of living the rest of my life w/o two wheels in it... is incomprehensible to me.
