My armchair analysis is that the 'tread' delaminated, pulling the exhaust down, and that's what sliced through the carcass and caused the blowout.

If the 'tread' had come off without effecting anything else, the tire would have still held air, and Baz would have had a chance to save it.

A) ~60 degrees sideways at 300kph.
    Not good.

B) That looks like the rear suspension is already FUBARed, shit is dragging and the front tire is off the ground.

They are back out as the track has dried. JLo has broken 2mins.
30 mins left. Will egos turn the test into Superpole? Evil

That was an incredibly dominant display by Lorenzo. The factory Yamahas were working well. Stoner ended up 5th but it seems he finished early. Pedro finally got in the picture overcoming whatever obstacles were holding him back. He was missing for much of the test, but turned up in the last hour or so.

Makes you really realize that the aliens are a breed apart. Casey jumps on the bike and is already the fastest Duc. They really need an alien on the bike... but I can't see anyone leaving their teams even for a boatload of money. And I also can't see anyone being pushed out.

It's looking to be a JLo year though... 1 second ahead is pretty crazy.

A GIF of Baz's crash, stitched together from CormacGP's photos.

Doesn't show much more, other than the bike didn't take a shot at Baz when they were sliding.

Is Dovi still considered Ducati's #1 rider? It seems that they developed a bike that he can't ride for shit. Casey was riding the GP15 with Iannone not too far behind on the GP16. I dedicate this video to Casey:

Previous to about midway last year when Iannonne broke his shoulder and learned to ride smooth I'd def say that Dovi was the #1 rider. You could pretty much flip where they wound up in each race after that incident. Crazy Joe just really came into his own last year while Dovi just started this slow downward slide for some reason. Right now I'd say that Joe is #1 and Dovi is #2... and if Duc manages to find an alien willing to take a chance I'm pretty sure we all know who will be getting the boot.  I could see Suzuki/KTM/Ape picking Dovi up at that point.

Where'd the tread come from on that slick?  Wink

I wonder if the Michelin tech assigned to Avintia is still employed? Grin
