What exactly is the foam padding on the bottom of my 2007 S2R1000 for? Mine is completely denigrated. I'm guessing it's to keep heat away from plastic tank?

Do I need to find something to replace it. If so what should I use?

I "think" it's designed as sound insulation. But, I, along with many others, have taken it off with no ill effects.

Thanks. I was thinking maybe it was to keep heat away from plastic tank.

If it was, it would be a reflective material  Huh?

NAKID and stopintime are correct.  Just make it disappear.
