I'm reviving an old thread of mine (http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/ducati-mob/179815-parked-bike-soma-hit-run-morning.html)

On 02/28, my bike was pushed over by a car, causing $1,500 in damages. Well, I left the country for three months a few days later and just now had the time to further pursue the matter. I filed papers with small claims court but when trying to serve the court order today, the process server learned that the owner of the car moved in April.

On the police report I have a Sylvia Morgan as the owner's name and a Precious Morgan is mentioned later as the person the car is registered to (is there a difference or is that an AKA? I don't understand that.) So everything I have right now is their old address and the car's license plate number and VIN.

Anyone an idea how I can find out where they are right now?

To find the owner's current location you need to run a skip trace.  Any info you have like the police report, license plate number, name, etc is useful in tracking her down.  I can provide you with the names of a couple of guys who run skip traces for me, they're ex-cops now in business for themselves.  It's not that expensive at all.

You filed the lawsuit which is the important thing because you don't have to worry about the statute of limitations running out.  Do you have any other facts that could help: was she at the scene or did the police just show up and run the plate?  Might also want to contact the old landlord for a forwarding address.  No doubt they filed a mail forwarding authorization with the post office which should show up on the skip trace.  You've got options so don't stress.

Well, the police report seems to be pretty conclusive. I have two independent witnesses, one actually made his statement right when the police was there which is in the report. With description of the car and the number plate (1987 blue Honda Accord, License Plate 4CGT509, VIN JHMCA5639HC021866), the officers checked out the place where the car was registered (1139 B Ozbourne Ct. That's on Treasure Island) - according to the report, the car was parked there, matched witness's description and showed slight damage and paint transfer from the other involved car (there was a second car involved).

Would be great if you could hook me up with someone who can help. I am willing to push this a little further, just for the fun of it.  Police

As long as you have the VIN, you can track the car anywhere via DMV records. They'll have to change DL info, or even registration if they've gone out of state, etc.

hrrrrmmm.

Does anyone know someone who can do a skip trace? I also saw there are two unpaid parking tickets on that car, so maybe the location of where the tickets were issued could help me ...
