Dan Moto Clear Belt Covers

I laughed out loud a little before I saw them, they don't look too bad at all and that price....a little easier to swallow than the Rizoma's or what ever else in the $500 mark.

Strait up China parts but eh, I'd give em a shot.

ive had the exact opposite experience with them.
we ordered not one, but 5 cat deletes for a multi. each one wouldn't fit for one reason or another. It was as though the bends had rotated differently on each portion of the jig.
we never ordered cans, but when a customer would come in with them the cans all look to have been designed and built by someone who saw a picture of yosh can in the early 90s and then tried to copy it. delaminating carbon and rattly rivets.
these belt covers look machined with lexan laser cut, so I imagine they would work OK. I would absolutely dismantle them and reassemble with loctite before trusting my belt and pullies with them. I would hate to see the carnage from a window falling into that system.

Good advice.
They better be designed to fall out rather than in or I wouldnt use them. I am surprised how well made these covers look.

Seems each one of us here in DMF has different experiences with Made in China parts . . .
Me mostly OK, but, just mostly because customer didn't want to pay for the GOOD part

I think thats the issue with the low end of the price range. inconstancy.
Its definitely a cost vs benefit thing. If I had a bike I needed back on the road and could only afford the knockoff levers at 100$ for the pair I would go for it. same with the cheesy bodywork for a track bike. But I dont quite follow the logic behind buying an accessory to make your bike look better by buying a part that looks cheesy.
Granted, the photos here look good. But seeing the pictures of the exhausts on their site vs. what I saw in the real world I think I would rather remove the covers altogether and then save up for some nicer quality belt covers.

From the pics in the link the windows appear to sit on and are bolted to a machined shelf so they fall outwards as do the bolts. Bolt quality issues may arise with cheaper Chinese components so I would consider replacing them with a better grade of stainless. An example of different stainless quality is the surgical grade staintune exhaust headers Vs the "90's era Ducati oem "stainless" exhaust headers.
I have seen Chinese dirt bikes that ahould not have been allowed to be imported they were so bad and at the same time I use auto and moto parts made in China which are built up to a very high standard on behalf of aftermarket companies. A recent example is the good Ducati K&N oil filters are Chinese and the bad ones are Thai. In time I'm sure that too will change.
Maybe Danmoto are improving in some areas.

FYI- regular loctite will crack plastic plexi or lexan
you should use on that is specifically compatible (loctite 425), or get thread locking screws that have a piece of nylon on them
