Speedometer settings?
«
on:

Hi all,
I just installed the gauge cluster from an SR4 on my M750ie. All the functions appear to be working properly...
However, the speed seems to be WAY off, as well as the odometer. It seems to be indicating everything in kilometers. I was keeping up with highway traffic and the speedo was showing 120mph.
Is there a way to reset it, or switch between the SI / Metric and Standard measurements?
Note: The engine temperature indicator shows about 220°F when riding, so I'm guessing that the Thermostat is correctly set for degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to Celsius.

S4R speedo parameters are set for 4 triggers, and your M750 has 6, so as fitted it will read 50% high.

Ahah! That makes sense. Thanks.
So what are my options?
Does the sensor read magnetic bolt heads?
Can I remove the magnets from two of them, or am I stuck deciding between replacing the cluster or replacing the rear wheel?
(Considering the S4R has a single-sided swing arm, that might be quite a task.)

Sensor reads the steel bolt heads.

Titanium would solve it wouldn't it?
I'm contemplating putting some sort of tape or paint over two bolt heads to see if that will take care of it. Do you think that would work?
I considered those anti-static bags for sensitive electronic parts, maybe that film would block it.
However, titanium bolts, or non-magnetic bolts of any kind would work.
How about some non-magnetic stainless blend?
Magnesium?
Any ideas?

Non-magnetic stainless bolts should work fine, replace two of the steel ones and see how it performs.
Confirm that the new bolts don't hit the sensor or the caliper bracket before turning the wheel.
IMO, none of the blocking methods you proposed would work.

This is what I used to fix my S4RT when my gauges were replaced. My speedometer was off by 44.4%, reading too high. Now is is more accurate than when it was stock.

I brought a magnet to the hardware store and found the least magnetic stainless bolts...
Bought and installed TWO...
and IT WORKED!!!
Wahoo!
Thanks for the key bit of info regarding the number of triggers.
That was the ticket.
