Maybe it's because I'm an old guy, but I prefer analogue instruments - dials and gauges rather than digital display.
My Question - is it possible to replace the 696 digital dashboard with analogue instruments?
Is there a standard kit?

It's not because of age - they're better  ;)

There are quite a few functions built into the instrument cluster - very different selection of such between 696 and older clusters. Certainly not a kit, but....

I actually posed that very same question about my 796, and did a fair amount of research into it.  I finally decided that it was more trouble than it's worth.  There are a number of issues including different ECU's between the digital (Siemens) and analog (Marelli) panels, things like speedo pickup, emission controls, and such.

haha - thanks Charlie.
I had a sneaking suspicion that that would be the answer. :-\
It's a bummer really - i kinda like watching the needle arcing around the dial as i wind on the rpm's.
Maybe i should be watching the road instead. ;)
C'est la vie.
Thank you.

Yea... I'm an analog kind of guy, never cared much for digital.  My issue with the 796 is the location of the speed display... buried in the lower right corner.  I can't see it in sunlight, and sometimes I have a hard time figuring out if I'm going 55, 65, or 85.... which makes a difference sometimes.  ;)
