Monster 1100 Saddlebags?

Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone can recommend a decent pair of saddlebags for my 2010 Monster 1100?

I rode from the UK to Norway again last year though got stranded in Denmark when the chain snapped and ripped a hole in the crankcase.

In Norway now and in the spring will be riding back to the UK to get a new MOT, then onward to Spain via Switzerland and Italy (perhaps through France instead of Germany this time). I usually just have a backpack but it killed my right shoulder last time so going the saddlebag route.

I've seen a couple on eBay from Germany though it looks like they'll sit on the exhausts. Not sure whether they're designed properly for the heat or not. Thought I'd check here first if anyone can make a recommendation.

Why not a tail bag?

There are some great tailbags that strap to the pillion seat.
Sponsors Monsterparts and Motowheels have them iirc.

I don't know if there is a kit for the 1100, but I have the SW-Motech Blaze bags on my M821. I love them!

I had a tail bag before which I used on a previous bike - despite precautions it rubbed away at the fairing over the long trip. Less of a problem with the Ducati since I can take off the rear fairing so I'll look into it, thanks.

I know Givi has saddle bags for the Monster 1100.

Glad you asked this because I am struggling right now trying to find either saddle or tail bag that will work with my Spark exhaust because of the tight clearance.

I definitely need something that either goes around it or in the seat itself.

Update... found the ducati performance tank bag and tail bag which replaces the seat cowl. Bought both for $200 shipped in total. That way I can keep the lines of the bike without adding a ton of resistance since the tank is already small, hopefully this doesn't create a negative impact on gas mileage

Both bags delivered today and I must say....this is utterly fantastic. I'm a short guy and the bags do not imped on my space at all.

Being a short bloke myself, I have wondered what the reach to an 1100's bars would be like.

Honestly I have no issues at all. I actually sit up pretty well. No real leaning at all and I sit flat foot at stop lights.

All in all its a comfortable ride for me. Arms are not fully extended and feet sit flat on the ground....all of which is better than when I had my KTM 690 Duke

mister704, where did you get the tank & rear bags from? how does the front bag mount? looks like there is a strap for it, but how is that strap mounted? I'd be interested in getting this set up.
