Hello. Diamond DeVille here. New to the forum, and only a few years into riding. My Monster M900 is my first bike, and was purchased as a rebuild bike.
When I first had him, I had some simple repairs to do to get him back up and running, also knowing that I would have to replace a bunch of stuff within a few years.
A year and a half ago, my Igor was involved in a hit-and-run accident (I was not on him, it happened when I was at work, someone hit him while he was parked, backed into and ran over, and left without a note). Since then I've had him back on the road, but with plenty of 'band aids' to keep him together.
This winter I took advantage of taking him apart to replace the exhaust system to go ahead and really strip him down to nothing, get the frame painted and double check everything to make sure he's safe.
I'll be posting updates and photos here as I go.

I know plenty of people have shared their updates and their rebuild projects. But I am proud of myself for doing all of this myself.

Thank you for reading along.
Enjoy.

Damage From Hit and Run (October 22 2015) Angry

Handle Bar Scraped, Mirror Broken

Where he was parked when hit (Sign says "Motorcycle Parking Only) And the a-hole who hit him picked him back up onto his kickstand before leaving the scene

You can see the marks and the spilled gas on the ground

Point of impact. The vehicle hit here first, exposing the old paint. That's when I knew something was wrong when I was walking up to him after work...

Now for some of the upgrades:
Starting with the gas tank.

Old Tank (Dented when I bought him. Two owners ago when too fast around a corner and wiped out. My friend bought him as a project "I'm going through a divorce and need a project bike. When he abandoned the project, he sold Igor to me to finish up)

New tank complete with custom decals  Grin Grin

Look how pretty

Last weekend's project:

Took out the Carb

Dropped the Engine

My dad strapping Igor down so I can remove the forks

Had to take a selfie Wink

So many wires... (only held up quickly for the photo, nothing was pulled or hanging for long, neatly laying in a box safely)

Done and naked

Congrats.  It only gets better from here.

You're not the first down this road, don't hesitate to ask.   waytogo

Thank you. He was actually rebuilding one of his Rokons while I was working on my Monster. We've got 4 of them. If you look at the photo of me holding the handlebars up with all the wires, that's actually a Rokon tire in the background not my monsters lol. So much fun

I used to work for/with a guy that did a bunch of R&D for the original Rokon bikes back in the 70's.

Time flies.
