Spitting Exhaust ECU options. Monster 695

Hi,
the exhausts on my Ducati Monster 695 spit. It happens when the bike is cold, when it warms up it goes away. but it gets on my nerves way more than it probably should. When the spitting happens the bike loses power for that second, so it happens during acceleration.
It isnt a loud pop sound, that does happen occasionally but only when i release the throttle so it doesnt affect my riding. The sound is literally like making a pt, pt, pt sound with your mouth.... I'm sure you know what I am talking about.
I'm guessing that it is because of the termi exhausts on the bike and im also guessing there has been no ECU modification. I might be wrong, I dont know. My mechanic has adjusted as much as he can to calibrate the fuel/ air but the spitting continues.
Keep in mind im an amateur in the game so much of what i say might be wrong. Ive looked at this power commander thing. They do not have a model for my bike but I have read in some forums they you can put one on. Theyre quite expensive for me. I would have to get a custom map, which i dont know how to do or where to do it (I am currently living in a foreign country and I dont speak the local language well). If i was to get one of these I would probably cut my air intake box and all that shenanigans.)
a Ducati Performance ECU for $1300 USD is way too much for me.
The last option i can find is the rapid bike easy fueling module. Would this sort my problem? If i got this I would probably cut open the air intake box etc too.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Dont want to spend too much as I am already paying high price replacing some other faulty parts.

Besides a good baseline tune, I would talk to our sponsor Motowheels about an ECU reflash. I like Powercommander units dyno tuned to the bikes mods, but many are very happy with a reflash.

Houston Superbikes will remap an ECU for $250, plus disable the immobilizer & lambda & raise the rev limit etc. all for $250 flat. Motowheels is a bit greedy as they charge $250 just to remap (via Rexxer which I have read bad things about) and $100 each to do all the other things. Hell a person can do all of that themselves even if they poke around the net for maps and buy a $40 dongle. MW is just too high on most everything they sell. I get it, it's Ducati and ya have to keep the lights on, but the ECU remap service for example is just egregious. Shop around.
edit: Just read about the foreign country thing. You should just get a dongle and find a map online and do the whole ECU remap yourself with your laptop.

Hi.
What are these dongles? What exactly should search for? If you could point me in the right direction I'll do some reading about them, thanks.

Search for Tuner Tools LLC for the dongle, which is simply a cord that connects a laptop to the bike's ECU plug which is located around the battery. If you get the Tuner Tools dongle you will have the option of the battery tender plug (which I got) or the alligator clips. Either of these connect to the battery whilst you are connected to the ECU. I bought the tender plug version since you don't have to lift the tank to attach alligator clips to the battery. More convenient. After you get the dongle, use JPDiag or GuzziDiag and go from there. Do a search on this forum for these, they are free to download. Although I have decided to go with Houston Superbikes because I can't seem to find a map online for my bike and specific modifications, you could be able to find one for your 695. Be advised that if you have not changed the airbox or the exhaust I don't really think any of this will benefit you. The popping is because the bike is running too lean. To fix this you must enrich the fueling. To enrich the fueling you must get a freeflow airbox with a matching exhaust and then program the ECU to account for these changes. It's a bummer to have to do all this and spend so much money when the Japanese bikes run correctly right off the showroom floor but that's part of Ducati's business model of legal extortion so what are you gonna do. Remember Machiavelli was Italian.

Maybe buying a reflashed used ecu outright and having your mechanic swap it in is the easiest path. Unless you can use Guzzi diag I dont know if there is a cheap path and maybe the in house ecu adjustments are not enough? Did your mechanic adjust the ecu with compatible software or just play with the throttle bodies? A reflashed used ecu mapped for your mods is a very simple way forward. Where are you? If you are in asia maybe bikeboy in Australia can sell you a mapped ecu outright. Bikeboy.org has a mapping service.

I've had great results with the FatDuc 02 sensor manipulator on my 695 - it corrected the problem that supasye describes, and more. I figured that if it didn't help much, I could always get a reflash. As far as just getting a $45 dongle and doing it yourself, I'd first read the how-to in tutorials:
http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=67714.0
...which should explain why shops get $250 for the procedure. It sounds like a real pain to someone who doesn't work with computers everyday. Now the FatDuc apparently works only up to 4000 rpm, but you couldn't tell it by me. The bike now idles better, runs perfectly when cold, is smoother on part throttle, and the power is linear all the way up. I have on some Micron cans and K&N pods and the thing just hauls ass, with great low/mid range power. But the first thing I did was to put an oil cooler on the poor beast, and I'd suggest that mod to any 695 owner. It used to smell like something was burning after a ride - now it's 15ยบ cooler all the time, and plug color is good. It's good to know that Houston does the whole deal for $250, though....

Thanks for the advice guys.
Im in South Korea. My mechanic didn't mess with the ECU as far as I know.
I'm going to look into these options.
