hello folks,

i was catching up on my SBK races today on speed and luckily with TIVO i can FF all the NASCAR commercials. everyone's got their own tastes in motor sports but IMO, NASCAR's got to be the most boring racing i've ever seen. beside's passing skills and having the endurance to sit in that hot, loud car and having to avoid the other crazy people on the track, what other skills does it take to race in nascar? not really looking for an answer to this but maybe one can enlighten me... ???

i personally don't get how it can be so popular. and the commercials are just annoying.

what's your opinion?   [popcorn]

I like my racing in 60-minute segments, one tank of fuel, and no pit stops.  Thank you very much.

I heard they have a NASCAR channel on XM radio.  I can just imagine the commentary.  "There they go into a left hand turn, and they are still in a left hand turn, and here we are two hours later, still in a left hand turn."  Now if they threw some turkey bacon eating golfers out in the middle of the course, then it would be interesting.

you know them boys would take out any turkey bacon eating people on the first lap.

the rest of the race would still be boring.

nascar is a horrible waste of resources in every aspect from fuel consumption to marketing of it etc etc

why would Fortune 500 companies continue to advertise there is that is the case?

When I was a pup back in the '50s and maybe early '60s when we only had 3 channels on TV it was exciting, especially when a car would go over the rail.

Now , it's just a waste of gasoline that we may need for our bikes someday.

I like it.

There is a lot more than just turning left. (There are two road courses on the schedule every year, and pretty good racing on them too.)
I think driver talent plays a lot into it, but there is also a lot going into car setup and things like that. If you pay close enough attention you'll see it. You can look and see how a car is handleing and it is interesting to see what a crew will do to get it back to good -- or if the driver can keep it under control.

To me, it is a hell of a lot more exciting than F1. No passing, overgrown go-kart, video game in my honest opinion. . .

No love from me - races are way to long, and not decided by drivers or cars.

Your bike would destruct on that fuel.

It is leaded gasoline.
