Tire Recommendations?

Have pirelli strada sport touring single compound tires on my '06 s2r.  I'm wondering if I get a sport tire that is dual compound will the center be equivalent to the center of the single compound sport touring tire?  Any non pirelli recommendations would be great.  Looking for a tire that has grip but that will last. Would that be like having my cake and wanting to eat it? Trying to get a good year end deal here.
