neutral green light

hi everyone! I just joined the forum yesterday and im still familiarizing my self on how to message on this forum. Im a new biker and a new owner of 2009 ducati monster 696. yesterday I was trying my bike around our compound started off course with neutral then first gear then up to second gear....I didn't mixed well the clutch and the gas that made the bike turned off. afterwards the bike wouldn't start anymore..... I tried to put it back to neutral and I was able to but  the Neutral green light on the dashboard would not come back. I believe as long as the green neutral light is off It will not really turned on. I asked around some people I know over the phone and they said I have to push the bike back and forth on neutral gear and the green light might come back. I tried this couple of times but light still wouldn't come back and still wouldn't start. I was able to turn on the switch and the lights are on and dashboard on and the only light on display was the oil light on red. I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this... thank you

You can start the bike in gear (no green light) if the clutch lever is pulled. Then release the clutch a little / drive a little and it should be easier to get it into true neutral.

hello! i tried starting the bike in gear with clutch lever pulled but still wont start. what do you think is the problem? is this something serious that i have to worry about? the bike was starting ok not until i tried it first time in our block when it suddenly shut down when i didn't mixed the clutch and gas very well

Neutral switch is kapputt if no green or start with lever pulled

Maybe.  Bike should start with the clutch lever pulled all the way to the grip as long as the sidestand is up.  First confirm it is in neutral by confirming the bike can be moved without pulling the clutch lever in.  If so, wiggle the gearshift lever and see if the light comes on.

I was assuming all was tested before . . . But yes, let us know if this how youvare doing it

I tried to start it with clutch lever pulled all the way to the grip, side stand is up and on neutral gear but still wont start.. tried to wiggle the gearshift as well but neutral light didn't comes on. im now starting to become frustrated and getting worried at the same time.. I hope I did not break it since its my first bike.

I suppose you have no experience riding motorcycle at all, this really is your first time experience with motorcycle, correct?

Let's start from the beginning.

So, you stalled while in 2nd gear, correct?

Did you drop the bike? Or stay upright?

afterwards the bike wouldn't start anymore.....

In a situation like this, check kill switch first. Make sure it's in "run" position.

I tried to put it back to neutral and I was able to but  the Neutral green light on the dashboard would not come back.

Your bike may just be in false neutral.
Use your hand(not your left foot as you'd do while riding), push down the gear shift lever.
You will hear the "clonk" when it goes into the gear. (You can also "feel" it.)
Without pulling the clutch lever, push the bike forward till it stops.
Push down the shift lever again.
Repeat it until it won't go any further down.
Now, you are in 1st gear.

Use the hand again (not the foot), pull up the shift lever.

Try if you can move the bike forward or backward (without pulling the clutch lever in), for more than one rotation of the tire.

Turn on the key and see if the neutral light is on.

yes its my first time to ride a motorcycle..yes I stalled in 2nd gear but I did not dropped the bike... I will try this thing that you told me with someone who knows how to ride. thank you so much for your help
