Hey guys! Long time since I've been here (Life's been getting in the way.)
A while back I had come to you fine folk for assistance with my bike not starting and eventually realized that my harness is getting old and crusty.
The wiring had managed to chafe and split which was causing intermittent failure to start, as the brown wire (pictured) was partially disconnecting based on the handle bar position.
At the time, I had "band aided" the issue with a butt connection, which just managed to fail on me this week after two half-seasons of being fine.
I started looking into throwing another band aid on it for a while as I'm not super interested in spending ~$1000 for a new harness right now but my memory is failing me. Is the brown wiring in the second image supposed to be a 2-into-1 situation? It looked like that when I pulled the sheathing back but that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Is there supposed to be a second brown wire on the left side of this connection?
Thank you very much for any help or guidance in this issue.
Additionally, could someone link me to the proper manual I should be looking to buy so that I can research this kind of thing appropriately in the future? Googling around for this stuff is a nightmare of clickbait and unavailable sites it seems.
Edit for clarification: If I touch the 2-to-1 of the severed wires in the picture, it seems to work fine, I just don't wanna do more damage than good.
