I fried a valve @26k miles...was on the verge of dropping another 26k miles later...intakes were covered in carbon...ended up walnut blasting them clean ...still troubled by what's the cause, apparently I'm the only one with issues

One more thing....while the stator cover is off replace the gear shifter return spring!!! Or at the very least look at it...mine snapped in two from friction, found it on my oil magnet

Well, I periodically run some Lucas fuel system cleaner through it. But I'm sure if they notice anything while it's apart I'll get a call.

Are you psychic?  [laugh]
The shop called Saturday to tell me they found part of the shifter return spring on my drain plug! It had been a little difficult to shift into neutral unless I was still moving or the motor was off. That's going to be replaced under warranty as well. Definitely getting my money out of that purchase and still have another 2 years left on it. This repair alone was over $2k!

There are two variants of the spring ..every early monster uses the bad one...I'll put up a write up...it's really a simple fix and the part is only 5 bucks

You might still have issues shifting as all the springs in your clutch pack are no doubt out of spec too...I measured mine at 18k and all were just outside the service limit...no doubt a cause to the frequent false neutrals...I didn't bother replacing them then but next oil change I'm going to as I'm getting more lately but only when the engine is wound out...you know when you need it to shift...lol

Finally got the bike back. I have nothing but good things to say about Southern California Motorcycles. They worked with my extended warranty company and got everything covered by my plan including fork seals and front wheel bearings! Bike runs like it's brand new! Here's to another 43k miles!
