old monster airbox "ring" instead of lid?

It was somewhat of a task, but for awhile on my '97 M900, I used four short lengths of twisted safety wire run through the holes in a FBF(?) ring to hold it down in place over my air filter.

It looked fairly spiffy, but I eventually got tired of having to cut the safety wires and install new pieces each time I removed and cleaned the filter, so I chopped my OEM airbox lid and went back to using the OEM clips.

Here (I hope) is a photo showing the clipped safety wires, but unfortunately not the ring:

The safety wires were secured to the OEM pins that the OEM clips were attached to.

Zip ties attached to clip mounts works, esp w the thinner filter model

fairly certain im just going to machine a groove in it. seems like the most reliable solution
