Thinking of buying this set-up. A few questions:

(1) Second picture - where does the damper attach at the non-fork end? I cannot see from this pic too:

(2) Apart from the steering damper, do I need any other bracket?

Cheers

In the 2nd picture I posted (red bike), you can see that the bracket holding the damper attaches to a bar on the frame. That big silver L-bracket.

You buy the damper and the kit, two items.

Just out of curiosity, how many have experienced tank slappers on their Monsters? Personally, not just have heard of them?

me...

2001 m900...no damper.

while changing from the #1 lane on the I5 to the #2 lane, it happened at about 95mph.... I shit my pants, downshifted to 5th and pinned the throttle which lightened the frontend just enough to stop the wiggle. I then shit myself again.

Then once more.

Not quite slappers, but severe enough head shake to be quite scary, twice.

Once, self induced.  Heading home on the FDR, very tired.  Fixated on the car next to me drifting into my lane.  As I noticed myself drifting towards him I over corrected.

Hit a bad pot hole.  Problem was a loose rock in the pothole that deflected the tire.

Trying to fix poorly set up suspension by adding a damper is bad. Adding a damper to proper suspension is, IMO, a good idea.

1999 Monster City, stock
tank slapper at @75mph coming out onto a highway from onramp that had just had construction.
ramp and 2-3in drop onto the road, in the corner, front end tuck and went into a slapper,
threw me like a rag doll over the bars
