Lucas Valley Road, in San Rafael, CA, is currently closed to all traffic including bicycles and pedestrians from Big Rock to Bridgegate, due to the fact that a long tanker truck rolled off the road while negotiating a tight turn.

 No ETA to open.

And, look, there's the sign that clearly says,

I frequently ride on this road.
I'm glad I wasn't there.

The video I posted some years ago.

I drove OTR for over 10 years... I've been in some tight spots, but nothing that I ever got hung up on.  The key is knowing your rig, knowing your limits, and making the professional decision to move along if it doesn't look right... or even just stopping if you are headed into what turns into a bad situation.  There are also 'drivers' that just don't care, or have the proper skill... sort of like some motorcycle riders... to negotiate anything but the Interstate.

I also used to train OTR drivers... I had a guy that wanted to be a driver in the worst way, but he drove the truck like it had no trailer!  I had to reach over and pop the brakes a few times to stop the truck... to keep him from dragging the trailer over something.  I also spent 8 hours one Saturday in the yard with him, trying to teach him how to back.  That weekend is probably what turned me into an alcoholic...

Gotta say, I would not have held position in that situation.

I trust *nobody* that much.
