M1100Evo intermediate DB killers?
«

The Termis on my Evo are loud, awesome but loud. I fitted the olomogato DB killers and although it sounds good maybe lacking some bass note. Are there intermediate inserts available?

I've never seen any 'intermediates'.
Perhaps there are other/generic brands that will fit?
I'd drill another hole, see how it sounds.
Or enlarge the existing hole(s).
Rinse and repeat til it sounds right.

It's 3-4-5 db louder than most other Monsters and the sound is less bass, quite a lot sharper. Not nearly as Ducati as a 2v 'should' be. IMO. Strange, since the ehaut cans volume should be large enough. Maybe it's the oversized(?) pipes....
Repack the cans with less 'wool'?
DesmoWorld has several versions of db-killers. Including 'legal look'

When I got my Arrows, the factory DB's were atrocious. Yes, they killed those pesky DB's, but they actually killed some of the sound I really wanted... but pulling the DB's went entirely the other direction.
I modified my DB's by punching a bunch of holes in them...
...and what I found is... all those holes did very little to open them up. It surprised me, too. What I wound up doing... what worked and struck that nebulous middle ground... was just cutting the DB off about 2" above the insert... THAT opened them up enough where I could notice both a performance increase, and some nice exhaust note... without being full-on obnoxious.
The factory DB before modification. (The photo above is after I cut the tails off...)

You could likely get similar results by drilling a hole in the end cap.

I forked out for these as I want to keep the oem inserts intact.
I tested the totally unrestricted Termi pipes and bloody hell they were obnoxiously loud with a raspy note. Ill leave the stock restrictors in place until these intermediate ones arrive. I would have modified the stock restrictors if they werent so expensive to replace. The Desmoworld type should have minimal effect on low rpm power and peak hp appears unaffected by exhaust type from the dyno charts Ive seen. The main factor re peak hp is the intake.

Dumb question... is there a reason you would eventually need the stock DB killers?
In my case, those Arrows will be on my Monster until it goes to the great confab in the sky... or until I sell it, which ever comes first. I still have the factory cans... if the buyer wants heavy, quiet pipes...

Desmoworld intermediate db killers arrived. They are beautifully cnc machined billet parts with nicely radiused internal exit ports for good flow and performance. They are really high quality parts. I am so impressed.
