Timing, ignition, rev limiter, fuel delivery(ecu)
Monster rev limiter kicks in around 6500, ss 9500
Also gearbox ratio
I am so available to be wrong
2000 Monster Sie revs well past 6500, I'm thinking the rev limiter hits just over 8k
Logged
2000 Monster 900Sie, a few changes
1992 900 SS,
currently a pile of parts.
Now running
flogged successfully
NHMS 12 customized. Twice. T3 too.

My carby has no ecu or rev limiter.
After 8K, all you're making is noise.

2000 Monster 900 78 hp @ 6750 rpm
1999 Monster 900 74. HP @ 7000 RPM
2000 Supersport 80. HP @ 7000 RPM
Rumor has it the carbys had a 9K red line, Ive never seen that as an official Ducati spec. As Nate said, over 8K is pointless.
I believe the difference between the Monster and Supersport is cams.

No carb rev limiter. Just loss of power.
900 injected cams are the same between M & SS.

ECU’s are different though. Something about the harness pin-outs is different M to SS, and oddly ‘99 SS is different than ‘00-‘02 SS bikes. Another pin-out difference.
NOTE: almost all Ducati’s got the immobilizer in ‘02. The SS did not until 2003.

Correct
Main difference is injectors, gear box ratio and some mild mapping in ecu

If I found a DP ecu,I could get rid of the pc, also Guzzdiag has been suggested with tune pro to rewrite myself
I have a nos ecu coming, so I have 1 to mess with

This makes me want to get a bunch of cheap used stuff to do an EFI conversion. I'm not going to, this is just an inspiring thread, you work a lot faster than me

EFI throttle bodies will not fit a carbureted frame. I know. I did it. The tube which runs side to side (holds back of the air box) is straight on a carbed bike and curved on an injected bike. If you can change the tube, change the wiring and change the tank, it can be done.

Pay close attention to the man behind the curtain.
