I'm not one to usually jump the gun and, but the old board has been ruined.  It's so tacky to intersperse adds in peoples posts.  I found it extremely distracting.

I doubt it... Most VS  owned boards didn't even realize it until the layout changed....

Besides, I think this community is the only one that is tight knit enough to pull that off...

We do have a unique group here. I love the new board here but it sucks that it even has to be here. I think the worst part is all the old data from the old site is lost. There were a lot of people who started very usefull informative threads that are now gone forever. Not to mention all the pictures. Some of those we only able to be taken as the mod was being done.

The only think I'd change about the DMF is I would make it look exactly like the old DML. It was easy to use and the colors were easy on the eyes.

There is a positive here you guys.  What was old is brand new again, only more mature and when written again, you might have more experience or insight.

This board is tight.

So I go to the DML today, not knowing the big change has occurred, and I CAN'T LOG IN?

What is the deal?  I knew the change was inevitably coming, and I was going to 'give it try'.  But fer cripes sake, I can't even log in?  I have to send an email to the help desk?  I am no IT expert, but come on!  Any body else locked out?  How long did it take to get your log in back (still waiting for mine - I won't bother when I do get it).

That clinched it for me.  See you later VS DML, good riddance.

It took me a couple of days to get a response on how to log in to the DML. Yea it sucks! i was going to give it the benifit of doubt but after spending a half hour there and sifting through that wreck i found that Spidey had PMed me with the right address to go to. I think he calls himself Lumbergh now.

I really found it amazing that when VS changed the format yesterday after that point, the DML took a really fast downward spiral.
I dont' recognize anyone over there and there are a ton of new names, as well as a bunch of banned people back on that are showing
why they were banned in the first place. Tongue

When I realized yesterday that VS had cancelled everyone's passwords, I poked around a bit and found where everyone was bailing to, and never even bothered to get my DML password reset. I just left...didn't say "bye bye", "kiss my ass", nothing.

IMO, VS would be smart to lock out the ability to even view any site content without a valid password, because it's quite obvious to any casual visitor right now that the DML is in its death throes.

And another thought -- not that I know a thimbleful about any of this kind of stuff, but is it possible that there is some sort of visitor counter set up on DML that pays VS some small amount from their adds whenever anyone visits the site? If that's the case, we're lining their pockets anytime any of us visits the DML anymore.

Just a thought.

The disaster is over, time to rebuild, which we are doing now.  How To is coming along nicely as are other areas.  Some things will be lost forever, some will be better than ever.
