I think it needs antique plates, if PA lets you run year of manufacture plates, I'd find some from the year it was built.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Once I have the antique title status things get a lot easier. If I happen to run across a plate that's either the correct year or within a couple years either way they will let me transfer that plate onto the truck.

Still waiting but there's a ray of hope.  I got to working with my state rep and she found that there's one lady roadblocking my application.  This lady is now not responding to my gal at the state reps office and she's not thrilled about it.  Our last conversation went like this -

"send me all your paperwork, copies of the cashed check and the pictures.  I have another way to get this done.  I'm going to go around her"

Game on!

In other news, I drove it 40 miles home from my friends shop to my house.  It's...dangerous.  I've taken to calling it Deathtrap and it fully lives up to that name when you put your foot in it.  Normal driving and cruising it's just fine.  Very mild mannered and easy to drive.

With heavy throttle the world goes absolutely sideways when the cam comes on and the turbos get to chugging.  The whole demeanor of the vehicle changes.  With the revs up and a floored throttle, Mr Hyde is here now.  [evil]  [evil]  [evil]  [evil]

In first it will paint the road with the rear tires, leaving stripes as long as you keep your foot down.  The rev limiter shows up fast.

I absolutely love it.

However, it does run really hot.  I think the airflow while driving isn't enough.  I pulled off for a cool down at 240 and within 5 minutes of idling it was back to 202.

I'm adding a huge oil cooler this week (11x7x2) with a fan and adding Amsoil's equivalent to water wetter to the cooling system.  If that's not enough it looks like I may cut the bed under the radiator and add a duct to bring under truck air up and through it.

I'm also planning to go from the factor F250 4.11 gears to 4.56's.  That will make it easier to get moving from a stop and will make 6th gear useable.  That's likely a winter project though.

Can you explain to bang sound to us tech-challenged idiots?  There is a rev limiter that you hit in first?  What exactly is "banging"?
"I doubt I'm her type---I'm sure she's used to the finer things.  I'm usually broke. I'm kinda sloppy..."

Banging off the rev limiter" refers to repeatedly hitting the engine's max RPM by cutting fuel or spark. The "banging" sound is the engine rapidly repeating these power cuts and restorations.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

Minor update - I've got 250ish miles on it and it's a blast.  It still runs too hot even with the huge oil cooler that I put on.  Whatever unseen aero is happening is preventing fresh cooler air from flowing through the radiator while at speed.  It just builds heat faster than it can get rid of it.

I'm planning to cut each side of the bed and install air ducts to force air from the sides of the truck into the bed area.

I've also had issues with it not wanting to stay running.  That's turned out to be the cam sensor acting as the magnetic pickup pulling all the iron bits out of the oil (which messes with the sensor signal) since I don't have a magnetic drain plug.  Cleaning the sensor fixes it right up.  Need to get that plug though.

Before I figured it out I did do another oil dump and filter cut to check the element.  Ran a magnet through the oil and all over the filter element and didn't get a single spec of anything on the magnet.

Rewinding a bit, I drove it 30 miles to work.  I had one road that's a long uphill run with no side streets so I let her have all the coal.  Full throttle through 3rd gear showed 11 pounds of boost and I felt like the mailboxes on either side of the road were leaning toward me with all the air the truck was eating  ;D

Shortly after that it started breaking up and not wanting to run well at all.  Limped to my buddy's shop and ended up putting it on the trailer to take it home.  Did all the oil work and figured things out.

It's got a lot of character for sure.  Reminds me a bit of how I felt on my old M900ie

Tape magnets to the outside of oil filter.

Sounds like you're squashing smaller and smaller bugs.  Glad you're enjoying it!

I could fix it if you dropped it off for a bit.

This thought makes me uncomfortable.
