The point with a Shorai charger is to charge each cell to its full potential. Generic chargers can't do that. Except on Earth-X (IIRC) which has the balancing function built in.

Unless the world has evolved since I read "all about it".....

You are correct.

For those who ride infrequently, an AGM battery has a self discharge rate of about 20% a month.  An LiFePO4 has a self discharge rate of 3%.  You do want to charge before it gets below 13.4 volts though.

I use my Shorai charger on rare occasion as its functions are limited. The Shorai importer must have a great piece of proprietary equipment that performs diagnostics and recovers batteries as he provides warranty service if replacement is not required.
My sparky mate reckons an intelligent charger like the Tecmate Optimate Lithium can perform most of those tasks.

13 V batteries in reality I guess.

After reading what you guys have experienced, I went with the Shorai battery and a tecmate charger.  The charger seems to offer a lot of "smart functions" for not much more $ than a seemingly simpler BikeMate charger.  I had directly emailed BikeMate for some clarification on their charger functions but haven't heard back. Same experience with the seller on ebay.
I suppose any battery or charger will have negative purchase feedback.  My choice isn't dismissive of any one person's opinion or experience. I have found that, usually, if I spend a bit more upfront I'm usually happier in the end, if that makes sense. We're all looking for the elusive "deal" ..... but I hate to buy stuff twice too.

antigravity brand batteries have always raised my brow of interest. lightweight, built in jump start function, and bluetooth battery shut off/kill switch on the car/ bigger batteries. no experience.
