Fast Bikes magazine: Does the 996R still hold up after 20 years

Found this video from UK's Fast Bikes magazine.  Does the Ducati 996R still hold up after 20 years.

I will tell you that it was great seeing this beautifully designed bike on the road.  I am 6'2" tall and I rode a 996 and it was the torture rack road testers complain about.  However it was great riding it and I enjoyed it for about 3 or 4 hours.

Question:  Where are all the 916,996s,998s and 748s?  I never see one and I know they are out there.  After seeing the video that is what i was wondering.

Back in 1998 I took a 916SP for a test ride. It cost 25k at the time and I was recently divorced with my settlement money.
I was encouraged to take it for a few hours and so I rode it through the Dandenong mountains. Coming down the mountain into Ferntree Gully there is a downhill, off camber, bumpy, decreasing radius corner and without trying my knee touched down through it on an expensive bike I was being very careful with. The bike was that good I was going fast so easily I thought to myself "this is cheating". I definitely was not trying to get my knee down. The bike was that good.
