Hi folks. Do you need the duc special tool to attempt this?

If you're talking about the tool to stop the axle from turning to keep the hole lined up, I use a screw driver close to the diameter of the hole and stick it up through the bottom of the fork leg.

will be very easy.
with the wheel off perfect time inspect your brakes and be careful not to engage the lever.

You need to be careful when driving out the axle. Use a plastic tipped drift. A used clip on works great!

Got the new bearings in and tyre changed.

Tightened everything up.  But the pads are scrubbing the discs too much. They never did that before.
what could be wrong?

What does seat the axle mean in the tuition? You tap it over till it hits the bearing edge? Thanks

Have you rolled the bike yet, or did you just bolt the calipers back on and spin the wheel? It could just be that one side pair of the caliper pistons was pushed out a little more.

Which thread are you using as a guide?

When I replace a wheel I put everything in place and bounce the front suspension to get everything seated, then tighten the axle and pinch bolts

thanks for the reply. great info. took it for a quick test ride and something was well wrong. a look in the daylight revealed a disc pad hanging out. put that back. loosed all clamp bolts and wheel nut. tapped axel through whilst front wheel suspended.
then dropped down and torqued it up. seems all good. thanks for your help
