Apparently it is back:

From KOAA.com..

"PPIR has a new owner with plans to resume racing  at the 1.5 mile track. Arden Weatherford, the new owner is saying little. But the group planning to hold a race at the facility Labor Day weekend says the grounds and ashpalt are in good shape. Members of the National Auto Sport Association plan to hold road races and offer high performance driving  during the three day weekend. Their regional director walked the grounds on Monday. Dave Balingit says the new owner has a great deal of experience as a racing promoter and track manager and believes the new venture will be successful. PPIR closed in November of 2005."

Maybe they'll have track days soon??

That is very interesting!  A company bought it for the direct purpose of closing the track, at least that is what we were told because we provided the event security.  I wonder what has changed in the land of NASCAR/Bush Series.  I would like to take the 1098 for a spin around the track.

Has anybody here road on it with motorycle before it closed?  Looks like you can check your top speed.  Road course doesn't seem all that great, looks like you use 3/4 of the oval track.  Still cool that NASCAR sold it back.

I used to race there with the MRA. I had my very first race there in 2005.  It is a very fun track but dangerous due to the walls on the outside of the
track. One of my buddies lost the front on his GSXR1000 and hit the wall and broke the bike in half Shocked
I think that it is very fun and the infield is better than you think.  Im now looking for another race bike now that its going to open.
I sold mine a few months ago. Embarrassed .  Soon Colorado will have 3 tracks. Pueblo PPIR and HPR. Next year should be alot of fun.

They didn't race all 3/4ths of the way on the oval...as it would seem.

They dropped onto the infield through turns one and two, heading back onto the oval for the back stretch.

Dude that is a kiiler shot. Your dad has big balls to put the MH on the track.  I would never dream of putting my Hailwood on the track.
Dont get me wrong I ride the shit out of mine but at the track I will stick to jap bikes so if I crash I could care less.
In the MRA race class my rookie year they told me that you will crash sooner or later. And thats just racing.

By the way they were right. Kiss  .  So cheers to your dad for being a bad ass and taking chances drink

big balls and pink boots!   laughingdp

actually, the bike was still in the break in period and i don't think he ever topped 90mph.  was a great time just to take it out to the track (this was only a month or two after their release) and let all the eyeballers get their first peek.

me, being his pit crew, got to place and remove the tape over the headlight and turn signals.   Grin  i also got to ride it back to his house in the springs after the track... was my first ducati ride.   Grin [moto] Grin

but, yes.. its. one of my favorite pictures.  was taken by a professional and dad's only copy was a hard copy... i scanned it a couple of years ago so quality isn't perfect, but we can all enjoy it now!

I rode it back in 2004 on a BMW K1200RS with worn out rear rubber.  THAT WALL IS SCARY, but you get used to it after awhile.  Leads right into a hairpin leading to the infield.  It is "brake, brake, brake, brake, slide and hard dive left."   Lot's O fun!  The chicane is AWESOME!!!  I can't wait for the reopening to get my 999 on it.
