Old bike oil leak cause

My bike started dripping oil after even short rides. Really hard to tell where it was coming from. Wipe everything down, go for a ride, oil had found its way all over the place, a few drips... still couldn't really tell where it was coming from.

Until now! There are two crankcase cover bolts that are under the front sprocket cover and they were both totally loose. Tightened them up and the dripping has stopped! They eluded my usual checks for loose things, which I do a lot more nowadays.

Go figure. Thought I'd share, in case some folks haven't done a thorough tightness check in a while.

By the way, anyone know what the torque spec is for those? I understand that it's not too tight. I made it snug with a hand-held hex wrench.

My manual states 9 or 10 for the side covers.
