As it happens, I work at a company that does web development.  We have a Search Engine Optimization department, I'll see what I can learn.

A friend of mine from that department will take a look at this site this weekend and see what can suggest.

I mentioned this in another post, but this looks like the right place.

If you've put references to the other board onto other motorcycle web sites, you can go back and edit those posts, fixing them to point here.  That can both get rid of one reference to TOB while adding another reference to this one.

I'm working on that right now with a few web sites that I regularly visit.

I will report back what my friend tells me either some time this weekend or on Monday to help with our ranking.

Keywords can help but not an overloaded amount.   That's what he's told me so far.

If you want this place to grow, the best thing you can do is to get other websites to link here. Link to us from your website, put us in your facebook/myspace/linkedin profile,  link here from your flickr or picasa page, blog about us, post a link to here on other forums or in blog comments, put a link to here into a wiki, twitter about us.

If you want to get serious about it, play around with the link text too, try and make the linked text some good keyword bait for what people are likely to search for, something like:

and

and

Yes, to some degree - not like it used to though.  Also, the links help.

Other stuff we'll be doing:

Submitted our sitemap XML to google.  This lets google know you exist and it tells its spider where to crawl so that it indexes the entire site better.

Small things.  Table should all have summary tags with some description of what's inside the table - good SEO points.

There's a few other things we'll be doing, but I'd rather not discuss them in an open forum as SEO is kind of a black art and I'd rather not share ALL my secrets...

Right click on page, view source... You'll see the META keywords in the HEAD section of the page.
