Hey gang...I was in ptown today and saw a pretty interesting thing going on. These guys had a forklift and were shifting around a bunch of old bikes. Now her is what was killing me. They were doing it in the rain. Apparently they are having some sort of exhibit starting pretty soon. Might be a nice day trip for us. Seems like a bunch of Harley's but there were a few Triumphs and one Vincent. Anyway enough talk...candy or

Kris, any idea what exhibit, where and/or when?
Gene, we've got one. It's called CAM
I've thought about starting one, I'm just not sure if it'd be worth the bother. We have about half a dozen Duc owners that're hard core, and a few more that are sociable on occasion. Plus, somebody'd have to run the damn thing.

DMF Local club? Or official Ducati Owners Club?
I think that our thread here in CAM is working for us for now. I'm not sure we really have the post numbers to warrent a new local club but it is definately something to think about. It probably wouldn't be difficult for the mods to create another local group. I don't know if there are any requirements too it.
As far as a Ducati Club, I am very happy with MAD, though my interaction is somewhat limited due to distance from DC. I did get an email about the Poe's ride from the local shop that originated from
www.desmoownersclubofvirginia.com
No data yet on what this is or where it is going, but I am keeping my eyes open.

Technology and enthusiasm in riding motorcycles has inspired changes in motorcycle designs since their early origins in the late nineteenth century. From generation to generation, motorcycling has always drawn riders for sport and accessible, inexpensive transportation who were also seeking a sense of adventure and freedom on the road. This exhibit explores transformations through designs by American, European and Asian companies and the explosion in riding popularity during the twentieth century.
Over forty motorcycles will go on view at the Courthouse Galleries on July 3, 2009. Featured are motorcycles from the early to late twentieth century. Amongst them are such brand names as Brough Superior, BMW, BSA, Ducati, Fabrique National (FN), Harley-Davidson, Henderson, Honda, Indian, New Map, Triumph, Vincent and more. FREEDOM: Evolution of the Motorcycle continues through October 11, 2009.
Courthouse Galleries
LOCATION:
On the corner of High and Court streets in Historic Olde Towne Portsmouth.

I am definitely going to go see this before I leave. Not sure which weekend though. I'll let you know in case we want to get a group together.
As a side note, somebody buy this before I do something stupid like buy it myself.

Dave, you buy it, I'll let you keep it in my garage so the wife won't find it. I'll even take it out and warm it up for you every so often while you're up at sub school.
Win/win!

At that price it would make a good track bike as well as a daily runner. - Gene

(The e-mail I sent to MAD)
Overall an excellent class. My riding skills were significantly improved by the
end of the day. Aaron and all of his instructors gave great feedback. There
was nothing earth shattering that that came out of the class, I had heard or
read about 75% of the material before, but the way it was presented and then
reinforced on the track really drove home the lessons for me. For example, the
"No Brakes" drill was miserable for me and showed me how much of a mess I was
with turn set up and braking. I did my best and worked through that session.
It was during the following sessions where it really helped. The light bulb
just
turned on "I'm too fast, brake hard, why am I braking so hard, I don't need to
do this, sweet!" Due to student/instructor numbers we were even able to do a
one on one session which gave me even more good feedback that helped refine
skills I learned earlier in the day. Though I don't plan on becoming a racer,
the mock race at the end of the day was interesting. The start was fun but I
am not sure I was fully comfortable going into turn 1 with everybody so close.
I could probably get used to it but the first time sure was an experience. It
was absolutely worth the time and money to go to Cornerspeed. It will be a
great set up for the July MAD days. It was also great to meet Mark and John.
As a note to future students, renting a garage is probably not worth it. You
spend almost all of your time in the classroom or on the track and are not
really able to go back to the garage.
I also stayed to watch the CCS racing on Saturday. I worked my way around the
track after each race to see some racing from just about every area on the
track. As would be expected, it was much different from watching it on TV.
Rather than watching the leaders the whole time you watch 1 turn and watch it
hundreds of times. The good part about this is that I was able to see
different lines, set up and body position that the racers were using over and
over and over again. I'm not sure I would drive down there just to watch the
races (~4 hours), but well worth staying while I was already there. As a
spectator remember to bring sunscreen. I didn't and now I am hurting.

Happy 12K to the 748 today. Now I have just under 3 weeks to complete:
Valve adjustment
Replace fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs
Bleed brakes/clutch
Flush and replace coolant with water
Put new tires on new rims and install on bike
Change Oil/filter
and re-lockwire everything
before the MAD track days in July. I think I am going to keep busy.

I thought it had something to do with the slow color bikes?
