Jeff/Dave, How did the tire change/shock work go?

Tire went like clockwork, the shock required some minor mods.
How did thje trackday go?
Dave is supposed to be bringing your stands and spoons back to you. That front stand is the shizzle!

Track day was awesome.  It was hotter than hell for most of the two days.  Had two near misses in turn 7.  One near miss I lost the rear end and it slid way out.  I was able to save it, kept the gas on, stood the bike up, pointed it straight up the hill, front end shook pretty good but it worked.  Left a large skid mark in the middle of the turn to remind me not to get into that turn that hot AND on the throttle that fast again.  Now looking back, that slide was fun.  At the time, I thought I was done.  For the other I had passed another on the short straight going into turn 7, rolled into the turn and stalled in the middle of the turn going up the hill.     I pulled the bike off the track and onto the grass, I knew the other rider had to be right behind me.  Other than those two sphincter moments, it was ear to ear grins all day.

On another note, I bought a winter project today.  '66 Ducati Sebring 350 single.  It is in Massachusetts, so I won't have it down here.  I plan on working on it in the basement at night while I am at school up there.    If I end up back down here I will definately be bringing it to Poe's in the spring. 

Did anyone go to Poe's last weekend.  I have a few guys that I met at the track that want to go next month.  That will be my last run up there this year too.

Welcome Turk.  A bunch of us are meeting at Redline in Yorktown tomorrow for a ride to Wakefield to eat breakfast.  If you're up for it, perhaps you could meet us at the intersection of Rt 199 and Rt 5; we'll be rolling through there around 8:30.  Or meet at Redline between 7:30 and 8:00.

How did the breakfast ride go?  I burned off ~100 miles early this morning in southern VB/Ches.  Had the roads to myself.   [moto]

The Redline ride was O.K., not great.
I got there about a minute before they mounted up and left. We ran about an hour and a half to the Virginia Diner, had B'fast, then they split off for the ferry, and Mike D. and I rode 460 home. Mike split off for Hampton on the way.
The ride was fine, and the roads were good, but they like to bunch up too close for me, so I ended up at the back of the pack.
I was fine with that, but I was not real enthused about the way they passed traffic. Yeah, sometimes it needs to be done, but it seemed to split us up every time because the leaders didn't choose their spot well enough, and the leaders didn't really hold back after passing so the rest of the riders could pass and not have to run triple digits to catch up.
I've had more enjoyable group rides.

I knew you would like that.  The owner had a very poor ad on Craigslist in MA, but I called anyway and got a good deal.  I am going to get it running first to make sure it will run.  Then strip everything off for powder coat and paint and reassemble.  If I can find authentic parts for cheap I will stick with them but I am not trying to make it a fully historic restoration.  I just want to have something that runs well and looks good by spring with out spending a lot of money.  Though it will probably take me twice as long to get up to Poe's on it  [moto]

Will, you also need to stick $5 in your pocket and ride to portsmouth to see the bikes on display.  You will definitely like those.

I'm trying to make the bike show in P-town tomorrow, but I may not make it. I'm in D.C.. My dad had a blocked artery and had to have a stent implanted. I'll make it if I can.

My fly wheel nut backed off. Sending the fly wheel towards the outside. The shaft sheared the spline teeth on the fly wheel. I got a new one in by Yoyodyne yesterday. Its some kind of alloy. Lightweight. Wish me luck.
