Definitely was a fun event!
I almost missed the ride thanks to a horrible traffic back-up on 64 around Newport News. I arrived at Redline at 12:31 when everyone was starting up their bikes to leave.
I'm sure I must've passed you at some point, then. I hit the backup right at exit 255, lane split 'til it got down to 2 lanes, then ran the last 3 miles in the breakdown lane, got there with just enough time to fill the tank and get a smoke.

Sorry I missed meeting you guys. My friend's Norton barely made it through that traffic, and I thought going up 17 was gonna be slow! Was hoping to go on a more scenic ride however.
My buddy Allen(the Big Guadlajara guy) loved it and told me he wants to host more events- even hold one on top of the parking garage at night under the stars.
I apologized for all the oil stains on the sidewalk for us already.

I've been working two jobs for the last couple months, which is seriously limiting my riding time. Things should slow down somewhat after the next two weeks, and I'll try to post up a meet'n'greet for maybe the weekend of July 11-12?

Pretty dead here in the HR thread. Weather has been pretty brutal, but it should be getting cooler now. Any rides planned? I haven't gotten any ride e-mails from Redline in over a month.

Was down your way for the long weekend. We found route 5 between Richmond and Williamsburg, and it turned out to be pretty good. Speed limit is 45-55, there was hardly any traffic until Williamsburg, and there were some big, lazy sweepers.

Redline is having a ride on Sunday that'll go on Route 5 for a bit. Glad to know it'll be nice.
Just FYI if anyone didn't get the e-mail, it's a ride up to Poe's Pub in Richmond. Meet at Redline at 7:30 AM, leave at 8 AM. Sunday, September 12th.
Forecast has rain in the morning, I'm hoping it stays the hell away for my ride up there.

The section between Richmond and Charles City is best. Hopefully that's the bit you'll ride on Sunday. It's definitely the way to go if you're looking for a direct alternative to I64.

I'd also like to know how the DOC meeting was. I went up to put a deposit on a new bike and they mentioned they are now a DOC club. I've never had a reason to join because there was never a club nearby. If they got some cool stuff planned I might become a member.

Gene- a.k.a. twolanefun is the prez and only thing I can say for sure to expect as far as cool stuff, are some good rides that he will probably not exactly publish but will be enjoyed....that is just 1st hand experience FWIW....beyond that...I can not comment.

Hi, Barry, welcome.
How do you like the 696?
