Or how about we just go with the rules of the forum?

3.1  Members shall not post images or links containing, nudity, partial nudity, sexual acts, or depiction thereof.  This includes pictures for purely sexual purposes.  This isn't a frat house, and the board needs to be work-appropriate.  Pictures of clothed spouses or significant others are ok.  If questionable, images should be linked and not directly visible in a thread. This link, and if possible the thread title, should carry a warning that such material may be NWS = "Not Work Safe".  Links will be deleted if determined to be innapropriate by the moderators

....since this is a public forum hence the content of which is viewable by minors as well as adults (more or less sensitive to certain attire), how about we go by what is generally admitted as legal/non offensive content by federal standards?

just thinking out loud...

The rules are posted and are clear.

...i know but the citizens keep questioning them for what they are now...

my point was that if this forum were to adopt regulations applied to a bigger world there would be less margin for protest...

not getting in the matter of if the rules are good or bad (dont get me wrong)

just saying that rules created ad hoc for a forum like this one are more likely to be questioned...adopting more "used" regulations (more or less strict) give higher probabilities that "the mass" will be ok with them and give fewer chances to people to dissent ...

let them protest.

Seriously...

when we set this place up we all decided that this place wouldn't be a frat house.

If that's what people are looking for they'll have to look elsewhere.

no it did not

I'm not trying to pick a fight but the rules seem a bit ambiguous.  A bikini top could be far more revealing and yet still not be considered nudity, still be legal to wear in public, still be legal to be broadcasted on network TV in primetime.

...and I'm not fighting either.

The rule is not ambiguous. It says no nudity. It also says 'clothed'. SG was not clothed....and it was also far from a bikini.

The intent of the rule is to make this place fun for everyone. Nick could have posted any pic of Suzy, but he chose that one to stir up shit. I don't hate him for it, but I wonder about the shit stirring mentality.

Some women have no issues with the pic of SG.

I have no personal issues with the pic of SG.

Others have different standards...and they should feel comfortable here too.

In a flounders opinion the pic violated the rules and when a member complained...it was gone.

...i personally read 2 separate issues.

1) DMF has rules. You like them or not. You do, you stay. You dont, you go.

2) DMF has rules. The rules are not specific enough therefore leaving lots of margin space for personal interpretation/taste.

...point one takes care of it self.

...point two maybe needs some attention.

You mods/founders certainly do not need to listen to our personal interpretations...so maybe a more specific layout would be a good and easy way to reduce the "misinterpretations"...

point three

we all take a knee and listen to Sgt Hulka
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

It all come down to intent.

There is no age  limitation on membership here.

we assume that if you own a motorcycle you are old enough to understand the intent of the rules.

Let's try this...

I have a two year old...

he understands NO...he doesn't like it.

I'm saying NO to all of you.

understand? ;D

There was no nudity according to the law and clothing does not have to be made of any specific material.

No laws apply here.

We have our rules and our interpretation.

...and I realize you're not fighting, but will you agree to being argumentative? ;D
