i'm a bitter man though. i always have been, and i think i always will be. i'm with GB and tizzy, it's what you focus on and how you view things that determines your happiness. (though money can help that view change a lot)

it would help if you read all of the article:

But even after adjusting for income, poor Republicans are happier than poor Democrats, and rich Republicans are happier than rich Democrats.

The study isn't complete.  They didn't look at smart people vs. stupid people.  Seems like stupid people are generally happier than smart people - think of the expression "fat, dumb, and happy."

That's probably the root correlation for republicans feeling happier.

I'm happy.  I made a decision a few years back to be happy and if something is making me unhappy to do something to change it.  I was sick of hearing myself complain. 

Not political
Not rich
Not Married, but I've been dating a pretty great guy for a while now.
No Kids

None of that upsets me in the least.

Sometimes being happy is all in convincing yourself that life is not nearly as crappy as it appears.

Education doesn't have anyhting to do with smart vs. stupid.  Otherwise I'd be smart instead of happy.

Depends how you look at education.  Are you talking only about schooling or the education your parents give you when they are bringing you up?  I think your upbringing can tremendously influence how smart you are
