Bought $800 worth of stuff for the Daytona...now all I have left to figure out is what kind of exhaust (full or slip-ons) I want and which steering stabilizer I like...and ponder about rearsets...

DRKWNG

Exhaust?  Leo Vince full system.  Either that or the Zard full kit.  If going for a slip-on, the new Arrow is really sweet.

BUT, I would advise riding it and getting to know the bike before throwing all that money at it.  Not sure if you remember or not, but I used to own one and in all fairness I really don't think it needs a steering damper.  You're much better off get the suspension set up to your weight and just getting a feel for how the bike handles.

And yes, as long as you into that sort of thing.  ;)

Good to know!  I have been looking at the suspension videos you posted a while back, and will try my hand at it and see how that turns out.  If it turns out I don't need a steering damper, it will be easier to get the Leo Vince...I'm not too fond of the Zard low mount exhaust look...

DRKWNG

FYI: Zard also makes an under-seat kit.

Just got back from a quick run on the SC.  Don't think I have ever taken that bike around Tantalus quite as quickly as I did today.  Too bad the windward side was as damp as it was...

MadDuck

Funny. I think my last three rides up there were all on a SuperDuke or a HyperMotard. I wonder how the 848 will feel again. I'm not fast so it's not saying much that I think I have been around there faster on the HyperMotard than anything else.  [laugh]  [moto]
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

DRKWNG

The hyper is quick up there, and I k ow what you're saying; I know I'm much quicker up there on the SD than I am on the SC. But the SC sure does make a glorious racket up through those hills.  ;)

MadDuck

I'm real sure that the Makiki Heights / Roundtop residents will miss you.

Got my flight scheduled.  Need to take in the title to the VW tomorrow, so I can start scheduling to get it shipped.

Also, think I found two different condos that will rent to me regardless if I have a doberman or not.  They are right at the upper edge of my housing allowance, but both are two bedroom units with garages and in a good location for the commute to work.  My buddy up there is going to check them out for me over the weekend.

Put about 120 miles on the Daytona...that puts it at about 250...and thinking about a slipper clutch, not that I even begin to comprehend how that would help me but I can't leave well enough alone...

and thinking about a slipper clutch

Doesn't need one unless you are going to have that bike at the track regularly.  I was only able to get the back end of mine to hop once, and that was coming down that one long straight leading into hairpin left, near the state park entrance on Tantalus.  I was going pretty hot and kicked it down into first to see what it would do.  Wasn't all that bad, due to the fact that the triples just don't offer much off throttle engine braking.

hadesducati848

was going to post this yesterday but the GF had me a lil bit distracted  ;)

so i took the GFs monster up Tantalus for the first time. not sure if it was that the bike handled a lil bit better then my 848, or just that I was less afraid of low siding it then i would have been on my bike. Either way i had a great time. I even went back for some pics... dont laugh all i had was the camera on my cell phone.

it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

you brave man, leave bike alone on road!!!!!!
