Okay maybe I'll let Will do the plugs also, but I'll supply the parts... ;D

Here's the breakdown on the cost, which didn't include the m/b of the new tires ($105):

Parts  $177.45 (including $88 for 2 sparkplugs*, $20 for a filter & $65 for oil)

Labor $600 (8 hours)

Tax $36.63

New tires make the bike feel more nimble...much more eager on turn in, which will take some getting used as the bike feels like it wants to flop over on it's own...only 80 miles on them so far.

*Motorcycle SuperStore has these plugs for $16.25...each.

I can definitely see the labor time. It was harder working on the 620 than the old carbed Monster and there is lots more time needed on the 4 valver.

I once bought some NGK replacement spark plugs for the 999. Due to the different insulator shape and distance to the actual hex where the socket grabs I couldn't install them without grinding down the walls of the spark plug socket. Didn't want to do that so I paid the price for the Champions. Now if it is exactly the same exact spark plug then that is worth it to shop elsewhere.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Same plug or not, at $44 each it's worth it to shop elsewhere... :o

Checked tire air pressures before my ride this morning, 31F and 37R...last folks to touch them were at SSD when they did the mount & balance on Monday... ???

What pressure do you normally run them at?  IIRC, that's not far off from what Ducati suggest in the manual...

Manual calls for 2.5 bar or 36.2 psi, front and rear...I've been running 32/35...

granted the gauges may not be calibrated the same, but the manual says 36F/36R a zero pound differential and they give you 31F/37R, a 6 lb differential...

For what it's worth, in all of the tire changes I've ever had done in my life, motorcycle or car, I have yet to have proper pressures set from the shop. Some were close, OK, some were far apart but none spot on. You always have to check. Always.

Agreed, but with them so far off you wonder what else you should be checking...

The "Gotcha" of my profession. Been dealing with it for years. Tech does a 3 hour service and does all kinds of good stuff and then forgets to reset the service lights. You can see it in the customer's eyes. They doubt anything was done and you've just raped them. Doing it all 100% perfect 100% of the time is impossible so it seems.

I've already invited you.   ;)

And in a few weeks, we would be able to take both bikes out there.  Do one pass, and then swap.   [evil]
