Depending on what that covers that's not bad at all. I'll be taking the 848 in for it's 7500 check in a couple of weeks and I reckon it'll run in that ball park. I've seen the results of people not spending money on their bikes and it's not pretty.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Here in Panama, my services have costed me, 1k $375.00; 5000kms $225.00; 10 000kms $450.00; 12 000kms[did it myself, belts OK, valves OK].

They never specified what was done, but, they told me they did everything them manual said, they kept my bike for each of those and avg of 2days and in one of those svcs, the 'so called tech' left the rubber gasket from the old filter on the engine and I was leaking oil while doing 120~160kmh, since, I'll take it only for major work from which I have no tools or time to do. Plus, my bike is already 4yrs old.

And yes, sorry, for me that's a lot of money, even down here.

I not saying that it's cheap but only rather that when you consider all the time and parts it takes to do the work then it seems pretty fair considering it's being done by a dealership in a high rent location.

I have to say that I'm weighing service costs along with an extended warranty vs. doing my own work and chancing fate. The homework isn't done yet.

mac,

thing is, the only two good they had, they fired!!! They sort of theached me the basics, the forum has done the rest; manuals are on the way, I'm an Auto technician, so, basics are on hand, just need to get to the intricacies of Ducati...No extended wtys here...

Not putting down no one, just saying that for me it seemed a bit steep...

But, keep ridin as if you stole 'em...

How about that?  I've spent the most part of the last forty years turning wrenches on bikes & cars and/or managing other guys that do the same thing. I'm no stranger to grease. Just yesterday I replaced both upper control arms on Gloria's '87 560SL. Yippee! Did it without dropping the subframe too, which at first I thought might have been the wrong move but after figuring out the proper tool sequence and tool modification it worked out just fine. Would have made a good video for Coca Cola.

There's a huge difference between the Tinman and the Ironman, but I'm sure you know that. You'll need to do some serious training but I'm sure you know that too. Good luck!!

Lester & Emile were at Laguna Seca today. My 848 didn't move all weekend. I bet Brandon & Craig didn't show either.  Looked like a great day for riding but I put 25 miles on the Pegoretti instead, a good bit of it on hills too.  Ugh!

I knew what I was in for with the service.  Still didn't much like paying it though.

Groovy!  I have quite a few friends doing the 70.3.  I might consider the 7.03.

I took the Cielo out for a shakedown.  Rear wheel skewer isn't strong enough - I pull the wheel into the frame whenever I put down my paltry amount of power.  Otherwise, really a magical little machine; perfect balance of quick and relaxed, reactive and stable.

went to Kaui on friday. did some hunting, spear fishing, hiking, and all kinds of sight seeing, just got home today. it was beautiful but i dont know if i could live there. i didnt see any ducati friendly roads in all the 5 hours of driving i did from one end of the island to the other. traffic was minimal, and streets lights were hardly anywhere but the roads where boring, smooth, but boring.
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.
