i saw pics from their sat 6am ride posted this morning... i imagine the usuals will show up tomorrow.

but i'll be hiking wahiawa hills in the am. probably easy compared to last week's ka'au crater.

btw there's a new 848 in town. he just moved back from the bay area and brought the bike w/ him. maybe the following week i'll try and get him to come out.

No riding for me today, as I am busy unpacking (and make the beast with two backsing off on here).  Took the SD out through southern Maryland yesterday though.  Felt strange being back on that bike.  Kept fidgeting around and never could get comfy with it...

No riding today, however I'm trying to talk one of the Iraqi Army guys into letting me ride his Honda around the base. Made some Starbucks coffee that my dad sent me, so I was there in spirit Smiley

Really?  Figured you'd be glad we weren't there.  After all, we probably would have been heckling you about your exhaust.   Grin

I told you I cut down the baffle and it's just right now... Grin

Speaking of exhaust, I had the exhaust valve malfunction on our run from 13 turns to Haleiwa...cranked it coming onto the H3 and the motor fell on it's face, 8k rpms and blaaaaattt, not enough power to pull a greasy string out of a cat's ass...exhaust valve was stuck in the closed postion, it righted itself upon startup for the trip back and I disconnected the cable when I got home... Angry

Was it an exhaust valve, or the exup valve?

Referred to in the manual as the exhaust butterfly valve...it's like an exup valve, except it's sole purpose is to quiet the exhaust at around 5k rpms so as to pass noise emmisions...

Uhm...  What?

He means the exup valve is sticking closed.  Just can't quite yet get the dealership to properly diagnose it and fix it. They keep trying adjustments but it's more likely the solenoid or the control unit itself.  I say stick a full system on there and forget about it but that's easier said than done.
