interesting that the bike in the picture has that GP exhaust but hasn't blocked off the SAS?  ? ?  ???
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Solo ride this morning starting with the usual windward stuff, then to the N. Shore...Snake is finished except for the first three turns at the top, which have been dragged but not paved, and is no fun at all... :P

Let's see .......... The top three turns? ? ? That should only take them about another month to finish.

What are you doing this Thursday afternoon?

Got a dyno tune scheduled for the morning so I'm taking the day off. Might be open for an afternoon ride.  However, the weather forecast is looking none too good at the moment & I might have to reschedule everything.   >:(   Stay tuned.

How'd the dyno session go?
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

How'd the dyno session go?

I took it in for a base run last Sat. That was done with just the factory Akra reflash, the SAS plates installed and the K&N airfilter put into the stock airbox. Stilling running both oxygen sensors.  We got 163 HP at the rear wheel and 96.5 lbs torque.  Fueling was at 13.5:1 up to about 3500 rpm and then richened up to 13:1 all the way up to redline. Bryce, the tuner, said it doesn't get much better. Also said that the bike was making more power than some RC8R's they had on the dyno.

I installed the PC5 on Sunday, took out the oxygen sensors & installed the O2 sensor bypass dongles. Removed the evaporative cannister, pump & hoses & installed the MotoHooligan airbox with twin 80mm stacks.  Actually no real huge intake noise increase. You can hear a change but not anything like sucking babies off the sidewalk. The PC5 comes loaded with a map for a stock set up bike (?) so I copied that and then made a "zero" map where there is no additional fueling or reduction of fueling. Sort of like a clean chalkboard. I was also able to download a few other maps from Rottweiler that had been custom made to work on the 1290 with the Akra system, the Akra reflash, and the Rottwieler airbox system ( similar to the MotoHooligan ). Loaded those maps onto a thumb drive and off I went yesterday.

So with the Zero map in and running what I noticed immediately was how nice the low rpm's were. I will chalk that up to having removed the O2 sensors & putting those bypass dongles in. Very noticeably smoother and almost no herky-jerky big twin feel between 3k & 4k.  It doesn't much like being under 3k no matter what anyway.

I told them to do a base run with the Zero map and then to run the custom map I had just so we could look to see where we were. The custom map chopped the low to middle range fueling by around 3 to 4% and added up to 10-13% more gas up high. The plan was to see how all that worked and then to build a custom map from there to make improvements.

The Zero map was spot on. Almost a straight line 13:1 all the way across the rev range. 165.5HP at the rear wheel and 99.1 lbs torque.  The custom map dropped the fueling down to around 12.5:1 ( a bit richer ) but absolutely no increase in HP or torque. Bryce said you couldn't draw better lines so we didn't go for any custom map on our side. He even said that when running the 12.5:1 map you could feel the engine lose a bit a crispness and that it wasn't running as good as it was with the Zero map.

So, in the end, the biggest change was putting the Akra full system on with the fueling/ignition reflash from the factory. Probably the next most influential change was to lose the O2 sensors and put those bypass dongles in. The MotoHooligan was icing on the cake.  After all of that it turns out that the PC5 isn't really needed on my bike but it is still in there at this time.

The worst part was that I got there at opening time, 9am, but ended up waiting until past lunch before they started on the tuning.  There was a problem bike left over from the day before that had to be sorted before Bryce could get to my bike.  Sounds vaguely familiar so I'm not immune to those things happening either.   [roll] [roll] ;D
