There have been a few mechanical breakdowns in my world, not the SD, so I will be out for a few odd weekends to come.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Finally finished all the work on the old Mercedes 240D that the grand kids have. My transmission rebuilder says he has all the needed parts now to put things back together so hopefully next weekend will see it go back into the car.  I still have to replace the front control arms & bushings and there is very likely a new brake master cylinder on the horizon. I wanted to yank the head off while the trans is being done but for some reason the boss says no. He wants me to yank the head at home so the car won't be taking up a parking spot.   [roll]  ???   >:(  >:(

Might take at least a couple more weekends to sort this all out.  i'm doing rear brakes on the Monster 620 today and more work on the carbs for the CB750. Carbs are off the bike & apart on the bench. Wally is going to do the reverse electrolysis rust removal on the inside of a chrome tank he has for his old Monster. The black E46 needs a rear door seal but than can wait.

No surprise that the Honda carbs are worse than hoped for.

I'll be back in action soon. I have been taking the SDR into town on Saturday to work but it's just a ride into town and then back home. I did take the baffle out a couple weeks ago but after yesterdays ride back home I had to put it back in.  Everyone at home said they heard me go by on the first pass and then heard me on the return pass back to the house.  It seems all of Norfolk knew I was on my way home.   [evil]  [evil]

I'm halfway through the 750 carbs and have all my parts & tools for it.  There's a small chance that I'll finish cleaning the last two this week and put everything together next weekend.  The 325i transmission was finished late Friday afternoon so now I just have to get it, or have it delivered. This will be an odd week at work as we have just suddenly gone into a slump. If the appointments don't pick up fast I may end up having one of the techs install the trans this week. If not then that will be what I'll be doing next weekend and the carbs will have to come after the trans.

So we'll see.........  [popcorn]  [popcorn]

It has become almost unbearable.  Last week there was long process to install the torque converter into the transmission.  Something I have done about 100 times previously on other cars. No matter what I did or how I moved the converter onto the input shaft the converter would not fully seat into the front pump. Voytek tried and he couldn't do it either. Thinking that the new coverter might possibly be the wrong one I made a special measuring jig and for a while there it looked like wrong dimensions and a wrong converter. I bought a real measuring divider tool and the next day checked again to find the interlocking pieces were exactly perfect. Great!! It took three of us about 15-20 minutes to finally get the proper fit. Hooray!! Got everything all lined up to work on it yesterday but I had so many customer/work interruptions that it was not to happen. Today looked great. I can work in peace. Some of the shop people who would normally be here went off to the movies so I am all by myself. Here it comes......... The transmission is sitting in it's lift cradle 1" out of place so that when it raises up into the car the "fingers" of the cradle hit the body of the car and keep the trans from going up high enough to mate to the engine. The trans is too heavy for me alone to lift slightly and reposition in the cradle.  DEAD IN THE WATER AGAIN   [bang]  [bang]  [bang]  [bang]  [bang]  [bang]
