Its been 2 week without a motorcycle due to loose valve guides. The warranty shop I'm working with spent the last 2 weeks getting the authorization from their rep to do the job and he was kind of hesitant at first due to the fact that I have no exhaust system. My dealer told me to bring in the cans within the next 3 weeks so he can throw em on the bike so his rep is happy. After picking them up I thought to myself "wow these mother suckers are heavy!" So what did I decide to do? Core em. This is gonna turn into a FAQ once its complete, and I have some questions about how loud i can get it, I would just throw em on the bike and test it myself, but seeing as how I have no motorcycle right now, my options are fairly limited.
I cut the end of the silencers of and after removing the aluminum sleeve i have this heavy hunk of steel. A lot of other threads have said to just chop the inner Steel core and rivet the end cap to the sleeve. I thought about this, and i realize, what would stop the sleeve from just slipping of the Steel core? The answer was, friction, unless it was mounted, then the mounting screws would hold it all together. Is this what you guys have done?
My other question is, how loud/how does it sound is it if i reassembled it as is? The exhaust gas would basically go straight from the end of the silencer to the outlet. I assumed if choped the inner core in half, it would be louder, but i guess the big question goes back to above, how would the whole thing hold itself together ( i guess i could rivet the end of the sleeve as well).

Should I just cut that one pipe thats sticking out? I really want to save weight and i wanted to just cut this piece in half to reduce weight.
