Valve Guides - How do you know they are faulty?

I wonder if any of the dealerships took advantage of such a subtle spec this by getting new valve guides for bikes under warranty even though the looseness would not have caused problems;  since Ducati pays them for warranty work.

No because after a while it gets worst and worst. I have the same symptoms of gus duc, Mech says its the valve guides when he was doing valves, heads got sent out today and they are very optimistic that they are getting them back earlier next week. so ill tell you how it runs then.

12k on my bad valve guides....discovered after warranty. i have no noticeable issues, and some day i plan to do a big bore kit, so not worried at the moment.
If you drive the nicest car in the neighborhood, work in a cash business, and don't pay taxes, you're either a preacher or a drug dealer...

Had both of mine done at separate times give or take some dollars about $350 with head off that was both guides, seats, and cutting valves.
