Lucazuma do you know if those numbers are also valid for the 848 or if DNA released similar information for the 848?

I'm not sure on this, so don't flame me if I'm wrong, but I would think you could call DNA and ask what they suggest for your bike as far as time/cost/that kind of thing.

Wow, I am surprised at how much some people are saying they paid for the 600 mile service. $300+ are you kidding me?

I totally agree ... they tricked you and I would go back and complain. Even in money bleeding Denmark here I only paid 200 $ for the 1000km service. It will be however 800 for the 12.000 km one..(service A , valves and stuff)

I believe so. I paid something very close to $144 for the 600 mile service on my 848. My understanding is it applies to ALL 2007 and newer models. Thanks for the post Luca!

I have opened this new thread so we can collect as much info as we can befor i send all to Ducati. http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=9784.0of corse its an matter of numbers so the more answer the "survey" the more weight it will have when its reviewed by Ducati

You Duc dealers have been reaming buyers for ages!!!!!!! The 600 mile valve check has not been needed for years in reality, the japanese companies abandoned it long ago, but duc dealers have been chanting how this is a high performance bike. It's the same thing Ferrari dealers have always done. Obscene. Has ANYONE ever had the valves be not in spec at the 600 mile service on a modern era duc 99 or later??
Some dealers , and owners for that matter, also feel you're not worthy of owning a duc if you question maint. costs. I've owned and been around ducs since 97 and have seen it too many times to count.
You can easily do the first service yourself, just keep receipts and document the work you do, they have to honor your warranty.

There is no 1000 km valve check...Just the basic inspection to see if everything breaks in as it should I think its an important thing to do on a new bike and 200 bucks is a fair price. But 400 is stealing, and doing a valve check then is maybe needed for Stoners race bike , but not for our joy rides

I didn't mean to imply their was a 600 valve check on the new bikes, but that the 600 mile valve check has been in place far longer than it should have been with modern build techniques. It was merely a way to lighten owner's wallets with horror stories of valve issues (true in cases of older ducs). Chris

Just an update on what I was quoted on my service price.
I scheduled my appointment today and casually pointed out what was required at the 600 mile interval. The service writer already knew what the service would require and quoted me $180. This includes checking over the whole bike. I am content with that as it is $200 less than what I was originally told.
They were unaware of the coil issue but said they would look into it.

these numbers are actually for a 1098... so im assumingthat an 848 would require the same labour
