Title: You're Fired Part Two: Felonies and Danger--- the Director's Cut
Post by: TiAvenger on September 02, 2008, 04:59:57 PM
Soooooo.....

I get a tip this weekend that the guy I fired last week, is selling gas this weekend............ on a stolen company card.

Run out to our shop late Sat night..... and sure enough the Truck keys and Card are missing.

Call the card company, who inform me that without the entire card number they cannot cancel it, (which is retarded as it is stolen.)

Fast fowarding

This morning the main office cancels the card and gets the usage report.  Maxed out every day (has a daily use limit) all weekend.  Keys and card are still missing, he refuses to come in and collect his last check (so technically hes still employed) So I file a report...

Anyway what really freaks me out is my program supervisor asked if I felt we needed security in case of a "postal" type incident.....
I didn't think of it at the time, but I ride alone on a scooter down a deserted country road.... it would be real easy to set up an "accident", and even easier yet to just ram me as at 55 the scoot doesn't have any more go/ and almost no emergency manuverablity...(like dodging a car)  The more I learn.... the more I dont feel that I know what this guy will do....

should I be worried, or am I letting it get to my head?

well, you are probably wise to be concerned but it would be quite a step to go from theft to plotting an 'accident'

Problem is its a six or seven felony step.... being a Gov employee and all, and he had to know he would get caught..... plus I'm hearing there may be drug issues....  put the point is, doing what he did would be like walking into the tigers cage and poking it in the eye.... he seems to be blaming everyone but himself....

If drugs are involved it seems to me like he's just in it for the money. I don't think he'll try to take vengeance. I'm betting he's just trying to scrape together as much money as he can for his drugs and then he'll try to run or do something stupid.

If this road you take home is so deserted, keep an eye out for anyone. If you see anyone that you don't usually see there they probably don't belong and then you can be paranoid.

I would be worried. Can you cage it for a while?

Trade in your ride.

But, yeah. Keep an eye open for anything hinky. Anyone you work with live out that way and could follow you home? Or could you go to a wife/gf's work when you get done for the day and caravan home?

For the record, it's hard to know what people are capable of.

We had an incident at an old workplace a coupla years ago, where we fired the entire night crew.

Shortly thereafter, one of the supervisors got assaulted by the former employees with a hatchet. They hacked him up pretty good until he realized he had a screwdriver still in his pocket, at which point, he shivved the guy with the hatchet, took it away from him, and chased the lot of them down the street, all with his guts hanging out. He was tough.

Personally, I would just be careful, and is a 10-15 mile loop *really* that far?

With drugs involved anything can happen. You can't tell how much they've affected their thinking, if any is left.

This is why it should be easier for sane people to get guns.. (but they should raise the standards a bit more, since you can buy a gun at an auction even if you have arent quite right)

Either way, id be worried. Carry a knife at the very least, or if your captian bad ass, a big make the beast with two backsing screw driver. at the VERY least pepper spray. Make sure someone knows where you are going, and is able to contact you just in case.

Look out, and your CC company is retarded.

good luck and stay safe man.

You need a tazer (see darwin dimwits).  Knives can be taken and used on you.  Just something to incapacitate him, so you can get away.  Pepper spray, tazer, PMS woman (sorry girls, this has been a bad week!).

take the loop.  Just for something different.

Got my fingers crossed for ya! [thumbsup]

Hunt him down first.

Run him over with your scooter.

Seriously, people on drugs are hard to generalize or predict. Do everything you can think of to protect yourself for a while. Good luck, and enjoy the extra riding time on the long loop home.  ;D

a weapon at work is grounds for instant termanation  :-\

short of him having a gun or say a sword, I could easily handle him....

Its the riding that scares me, the scoot simply cannot outrun or evade an attack....  I get the impression if he were to do something that would be the case... he is two small/cowardly to try something face to face.

Yay! I get to get up at 345 am now  :P

I would hope that most employers would not consider Mace, pepper spray, stun guns, hell, even a TAZER a weapon...

from the other thread, as much work as he put into faking doing his work, he's still lazy.

also, at what point does him not returning the truck turn into auto theft?

learn how to ride the scooter offroad. that will help you out. lol

or maybe it's time to turn that thing intoa  50cc flamethrower  ;D

every employer has this kind of bs on the books.  it basically protects them in case you come in and shoot up the place.

carry some kind of defense with you and just keep it quiet.  mace is fine.  a pistol is fine if you can conceal it, but mace is probably better.  get the foamy kind with UV dye in it.

seriously.   you are worried about this guy coming after you and you're quoting company regs???

make the beast with two backs that.

"better judged by 12 than carried by 6"

Your missing the point..... the only time I really worried about.... is the time a weapon will do me no good... on the scooter to and from work.  :-\

carry some runny poo in a bag. if he is coming after you then fling it at his windshield. that should buy you some more time to get away or evade him.

The one time I had to fire a guy b/c he was stealing to support a substance addiction...

...I did it with a pistol in my hand.  (It was out of the guy's line of sight.)

It's not possible to be too careful when dealing with an addict in situations like these.  You never know what they're capable of.

Watch your back bud.

Wouldn't take much to get your scooter to look like this.  All you need is some missiles and chuck norris riding two up with you.
