Some times you need to mix it up, you know, back and forth, oh and dont forget, in the heat of the moment, its ok to go ATM.

ha ha well its my fault i didnt bring the right bit for the dremel, billy chopped em down good though.

I have to still cut off those welds to get the end caps off. I have two nice little one foot long pipes though. I have to go down and buy a bit to finish the job.

Hey billy, i found a post that showed what it looks like on the inside after the chop, it looks just like mine with the 3 pipes coming out, that wall that we thought we had to break through you dont have to so im leaving it, but i am going to pull that ring out of the end cap ect. So that makes it easy. Im going to buy the bit tonight and see if i cant get them frikkin end caps off. DAm those welds are tough.....

Pop out the ring before you remove the end caps.  The extra material makes the gripping easier to remove them.

Basically dremel the welds on 'em.  Take a 5lb sledge and a cold chisel and whomp em a few times.

I used a large flat head to help seperate the outer lining from the endcaps by hammering in and twisting, ad naseum.  Once the welds are cut and you've done this they do come out.

1 foot . . . dude you cut the puppies shorter than mine!  Gonna sound SICK!  [evil]

Okay i give up......

I cut the welds on the end cap but the dam cap still wont seperate from the pipe/other crap what the hell is holding it on at this point? I took a hammer and knocked the pipe inwards but it only proceeded to go about an inch in before it stopped, I took a screwdriver and ran it all along the edge and bent in the canister so theres a big gap between the end cap and the pipe, yet still it wont come off.  We cut the pipe off right where the end cap starts so basically what i have is the end cap with about an inch of inerds, and that pipe stuck in that hole laughing at me cause it wont budge now. I just dont get what is holding that in there if all the welds are cut....im about ready to stomp on this thing. Im sure bill understands. Any ideas?  [bang]

I got one idea, drill holes all around til the thing falls out.....

I dunno, hit it with a bigger hammer maybe?

Put a large socket or pipe that is nearly as big as what the new opening will be and hit it with a... what Krolik said. There needs be room behind for it to give. We should have kept the shells that we cut off they would have worked great for this.

If you'd like to proceed this weekend we'll finish them off and mount them.

I finally got it to come off, so one down one to go......

Not before i smashed my finger with a hammer though, blood squirted out both side of the wound.   [laugh] [wine]

Got the other one off last night, knocked out the end piece as well. What a PITA. Ducati really didnt want anyone to take those off do they? I sanded the pipes down last night, preparing for the paint job. All i gotta do now is paint them, then put the rivets in then put them on.   [thumbsup]  Im just gonna go buy a rivet tool and put them on myself.

Good job Saltlick  [thumbsup]

Those rivet guns are about $40.00 a piece so if'n you don't want to buy I'll lend you or snap 'em in for ya. Who knows, maybe your going to start a Remus Pipe Mod business now that your having so much fun with it.  [laugh] You'll need you own then huh?

Is it Friday yet?

Sheeeaatt.  Hey i saw a post where some dude put some sort of adhesive on the end cap and put them on with that. He said he did it 4 years ago and its still working great. Thought that might be a good idea, i dont have to buy the tools and it might look better and you dont have to worry about the rivets rusting. What you guys think? Ill try to scare up the name of the product he put them on with.

Finished.

Got the pipes on, it looks killer. Cant start up the bike to hear it though, its 1am in my little neighborhood think ill wait til tomarrow....shit!

I worked on it a little here, a little there.  Thanks Billy for helping me chop the pipes, i owe him one again. Thanks chuck for almost coming over til i called it off [thumbsup]

Well i now have all the tools and know how to offically chop some stock pipes, if anyone wants to know how to do it (you all probably have nice aftermarket pipes) let me know. Like everything else, its a pain in the ass until you figure out the little tricks. I also did my own brake pads, i dont know to someone like me who sucks at fixing mechanical things i did alright. i also tightened my chain.  [drink]

No man, I could smell the neighbors  [bacon] but it inspired some Morning Star breakfast links and some Trader Joe's french toast and oatmeal, cooked it me own damn self, too easy. Now tell me, "Wifezilla" does cook breakfast for papa and the kids right?  :-\

it does the sweep, everything looks good push the button and it just clicks.....

I hooked it up to the charger hoping that is the problem....

Is it possible the exhaust is messed up somehow.....
