Trie that. I'll take my pets over most people any day.
If this had been one of my cats, I'd have most definantly commited excessive bodily harm upon the attacker.
Lemme clairify. If a human did this to one of my cats, the human would suffer the same fate to see what it felt like ~
Didn't mean to alarm ya BP ~

Bob has attacked me several times, and I smacked his ass, but never has he walked away with broken teeth, broken ribs, a broken leg, a torn tongue, massive internal injuries including bruised lungs and a bruised liver and a chest cavity filled with blood.
boy am I glad to see I'm not the only cat lover. don't make the beast with two backs w/ my Eddie cat, I promise it won't end well...

Eddie does not look very happy.
probably cause he didn't get a cap. [laugh]
The dumbest quote in that article: "Hochbaum complained the district attorney's office never offered his client a plea deal. He said outside court he believes that was because of the publicity the case attracted and the urgings of cat fanciers."
WTH? The DA does not have an obligation to offer a plea deal... LOL! Who cares why the DA didn't offer a plea deal... you're LUCKY to get a plea deal when it happens. Maybe he isn't offered a deal because it's an open and shut prosecution. He deserves two years AT LEAST.
StOOpid hoomans >:(

yeah, that was a laugher alright. Though what the DA should have offered was a sentence that involved tarring, feathering, and display in a cage at a series of cat shows, with a large-type description of his crime posted next to plenty of pointy sticks handy for poking. No deal? Well, I'll see ya in court, then...
This looks like a job for ninja cat.

though this person may derserve 2 years in jail if convicted, its still pretty messed up in every level imaginable that you can get more time in jail by killing at cat than you can from killing a person or raping a person..
that is just totally not right.

Just did a quick google on this; according to USDOJ stats from 1999 (might have changed; kinda doubt if the change is huge, though), average sentence for murder was 253 months (a little over 21 years) and for rape was 170 months (just over 14 years). Average time served was doubtless less than that, but in general anyone convicted of either of those crimes is going to be behind bars substantially more than two years.
Figures came from http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/ascii/aasps.txt (http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/ascii/aasps.txt)

I have a hard time with things like this. I don't understand wanting to cry and hurt someone at the same time. It conflicts so much.
I don't care to judge, but I will make an exquisite executioner.

i guess i'm going by time served, bc a few years ago some cities you literally stayed in jail 1 month for every year sentenced due to overcrowding.. stupid.

And that would be because the US Govt puts a priority on imprisoning POT SMOKERS over animal abusers/killers, rapists and murderers. Because the US is a little territorial about their drug dealing...they want to control it all, and the FDA is living proof of that. (Has anyone ever heard of a pot smoker hurting another animal or human? No? Huh.)
Oh, did I say that out loud?
BTW, animal abusers really should have the book thrown at them, IMHO.

tell me something, do you think the person that kills your pet for no reason should get the same amount of time in jail as the person that beats the crap out of your son for no reason and permanently cripples him for life (doesn't kill him, maybe makes it so that can no longer walk without a limp or ever run again) should get the same amount of time in jail?
i don't know about you, but personally if something like that happened to someone i knew, i would be more concerned with the health of that friend. but hey that is me, everyone's priorities are different and everyone is allowed to have a different opinion
Only if the animal is cute. Cows are fair game.
